Critic Reviews for Astro Duel Deluxe

It's not feature rich, but Astro Duel Deluxe is another title making excellent use of Nintendo's console vision.

Astro Duel Deluxe is easily the least impressive game visually on the console, does little to nothing to show off your fancy new tech, and it isn't all that fun for more than half an hour at a time. I will say it has a decent soundtrack -- not "$15 for short bursts of gameplay" decent -- but pretty good.

Astro Duel Deluxe is a good tribute to the space shooter genre of previous generations thanks to its fun gameplay mechanics, a competent audiovisual environment and very fun local multiplayer modes. It would be even better if it included an online multiplayer mode, as well as a bit more in terms of content. As it is, it remains an interesting new addition to the Nintendo Switch catalogue.

With the right crowd of people, AstroDuel is a neat distraction which remixes classic game mechanics into a frenetic party experience. It doesn't last long however, and once the initial novelty has worn off there's not much reason to return to this one.

If you, and a group of your friends, enjoy smack talking and retro-style gaming over some drinks this could be a perfect game for you. Otherwise, you'll have to think it over a bit

As a multiplayer title, Astro Duel Deluxe is an absolute blast. It works gracefully in tabletop mode and brings the golden age into the 21st century on the Switch. You may not get hours of gameplay per sitting but I could imagine this being the go-to game to settle disputes within some circle of friends.
