Vostok Inc. is a fun little retro-inspired SHMUP which gives you the freedom to fly around solar systems as you please unlike most games from the genre which scroll automatically. It has a ton of resource management which will appeal to many fans of games like The Sims or Civilization. I don't personally like many shoot 'em up games, but thanks to the resource management and RPG elements in this game, I just couldn't put it down. And even once the game started to get repetitive, I started finding executives who gave me access to a great many mini games that pleasantly took me back to my childhood. While this game isn't going to blow people away with its visual prowess, storytelling capabilities or music, it will entertain most people who get it for a fair amount of time. I enjoyed this one quite a lot and will give it a very solid 8/10.

While Vostok Inc isn’t a terribly complicated game there’s an element to it that can get its hooks into you. I’d say in a way that’s very similar to something like Stardew Valley you can get into a pattern of habits that are somewhat relaxing. Blow up asteroids, upgrade planets, get in some fights, upgrade your ship, take out a boss, move onto the next galaxy and repeat. The addition of the game’s very strange sense of humor at times as you’ll interact with the representatives from each galaxy helps keep things light as well and many of the game’s seemingly infinite achievements are laced with comedic undertones as well. I started playing Vostok Inc expecting to have some silly fun, the fact that it turned out to have some depth and hidden surprises throughout was just icing on the cake.

Vostok Inc. takes the cookie clicker genre, often played with a fleeting attention span, and spins it into an experience that you can't put down. The amount of different spinning plates to consider when constructing your capitalist, galactic empire is a challenge that is only made more satisfying by the pleasing music, graphics and varying space combat. It's a great game.

Vostok Inc has a retro feel to it, so essentially it already feels like it has been around for a long time. The mechanics of the combat can be found in the original Asteroids game, albeit with easier controls. If you like the combat mechanics, then just playing the game as shoot 'em up is great fun. I think this game will still be as enjoyable in years to come, the simplicity of picking it up and playing for a bit and not having to dedicate hours to missions means that it will probably sit in gamer's collections with frequent revisits. I like Vostok Inc a lot and I will be playing it to conclusion. I confess that I don't normally get that into retro games, but Vostok Inc has won me over. Prepare for time to pass at an alarming rate. Nosebleed Interactive have spent their energies in the right areas to make this game top rated for fun.

Vostok Inc. is a moreish slice of rampant capitalism, an adventure in both space combat and middle management, sewn together with cute ideas and clicker-style mini games. Once you have that initial bump you'll be hooked, but if you can go cold turkey for even a short time you might struggle to go back, even though it felt amazing. Vostok Inc. is here for a good time, not a long time.

Vostok Inc. juggles a lot of styles, and manages to pull them all off well just above average. The sum is not always greater than its parts but in this case the sum is much greater. If you find some spare coin, and want a game about making coin back then Vostok Inc. is for you.

Gaming is a massive time sink, and Vostock is the biggest of them all. What starts off nice and delightful will eventually turn into a time eating monster.
