Earth Atlantis Reviews
Earth Atlantis offers the thrills and tension you expect from a side-scrolling bullet-hell shooter, but sadly the lack of longevity you don't always expect.
Yes, we do Aquaman jokes too!
I finally sat down and got my thoughts out on “Earth Atlantis” for the Nintendo Switch. Will this side-scrolling shooter sink or swim? Listen to my full review here to find out! It’s been long overdue…
Overall, especially once the grinding issue is properly addressed, I believe that Earth Atlantis has a place and is actually pretty unique among shooters I’ve played. The game is literally swimming with challenging boss battles, and while there are some that are easier than others the false sense of security the game lulls you into having will just make it sweeter when you take the bait and get surprised when one of them puts up a formidable challenge and kills you in an instant. For the moment I’d recommend starting in Easy Mode and getting the lay of the land, spending time backtracking is difficult enough with the way everything is laid out, you may as well take the opportunity to learn where things are, how the map flows, and roughly how the different boss monsters attack and behave so you can be more successful even before you hit the ground running on Normal difficulty. While Earth Atlantis can be frustrating at times it is also a well-executed shooter with loads of challenging content. If you’re not afraid to die quite a bit on the way to your ultimate victory I’d say it is worth giving a try.
Earth Atlantis is a beautiful monochrome world that is just aching to be explored. Visually stunning, this unique side-scrolling shooter is incredibly challenging as the player faces a unique variety of enemies and bosses on their journey across an apocalyptic Earth.
Quality central gameplay unfortunately proves marred by decisions that don't mesh, producing a game that's better enjoyed in brief spurts than something you can actually chew on and master.
Earth Atlantis is pretty good representative of the genre, the art style and General mechanics which draws its unusual, and the boss battles are forced to start it again and again, because of their diversity and interesting performance. Earth Atlantis can advise everyone who is not indifferent to the genre in General, and in some measure appreciate the virtual masochism, the idea that the player will die more than once on the way to a great victory over this giant rulers of the new world.

While usually not as chaotic as your typical shoot-em-up of a similar genre, Earth Atlantis does provide a certain unique ambience that is a joy to be a part of. Being maxed out with weaponry feels good, killing a giant sea monster feels great but the clutter that’s in between does eventually feel like work. Which makes this game best played in short burst. If you hunt a monster a day to keep the apocalypse at bay then Earth Atlantis is great fun and well worth a gander, but if you dive in too deep too soon, then you may fatigue long before you reach the surface.
