Fossil Hunters is a game I've been looking forward to playing for the last six months and Reptoid Games have not disappointed me. This team based puzzler is superb and will be sure to unleash your inner palaeontologist.

I also wish the game had used a bigger selection of puzzle pieces to craft more true-to-life prehistoric oddities. One of the blueprints I found was of a sea serpent, but I couldn't help but wish it was a mosasaur or a plesiosaur. It's a little bit sad that a DS game from 2008 is still the best paleontology-based video game on the market—Fossil Hunters does not scratch that itch.

Fossil Hunters fun and crazy good when played either on your own or in (local only) multiplayer – the more, the merrier! Each level lasts for as long as you want since you can stick around long after you complete a dinosaur diagram and any extra objectives, as you search for any collectibles so that you can fill up your journal. I have had a blast playing this one, and other than some mild slowdown here and there – which is not a deal-breaker – I recommend you play it today!

Fossil Hunters is, in almost everything that it does, good, clean family fun. My young tribe and I have had a real blast playing it together despite the technical hiccups and the fiddly nature of some of the controls. It’s a game best played in a team, when you can all have a responsibility, but it does require at least some gaming experience in the group to overcome its toughest challenges that’ll frustrate the younger gaming archaeologists out there. If you’re looking for a game to play with a bunch of Dinosaur obsessed children or with a couple of older friends who’re up for a laugh, it’s worth digging into Fossil Hunters during the upcoming Autumn/Winter nights.
