Operation Warcade Reviews
Operation Warcade isn't a terribly innovative game, but it's fun enough if you're just looking for a very basic arcade shooter. Just don't expect a definitive VR experience from it.
Stepping into this classic arcade, I didn't have high hopes. Operation Warcade is the kind of game that's easy to quickly glance at and readily dismiss on visuals alone. I'll by the first to admit that it failed to grab me initially. It was only once I got playing that I realized the kind of potential it held, in spite of its relatively cheap look overall. Operation Warcade isn't looking to compete with top-tier AAA games, but it manages to settle into a spot of being an addictive experience to play on repeat. The brief levels offer a perfect bite-sized morsels, and you may even end up biting off more than just a nibble each time you play, slamming just one more coin into the slot to start another round.
Operation Warcade is a great game for someone just starting off in VR. It’s a fun package with enough replay value to justify the price tag. The game has its minor issues, but they don’t detract from the fun factor or playability. All in all, it’s just an easy game to hop into and play for an hour or so and work on some challenges, or just to kill some time for a few minutes. It’s an interesting presentation, and a nostalgic experience for the older generation.
If you enjoy arcade shooters, cool VR games, and 80's nostalgia, check this game out.
Operation Warcade gives PlayStation VR owners a solid fix of nostalgic shooting action that will appeal to gamers of any age. Sure, it’ll tug at older gamers’ heartstrings more thanks to its old-school presentation, but it offers more than enough modern features that even youngsters that haven’t heard of the likes of Operation Wolf will be able to have fun with it too. It does have a few flaws here and there though, with the presentation in particular being a little sketchy throughout. Those who enjoy some fun shooting action in virtual reality really ought to give Operation Warcade a go, though.
