Critic Reviews for Garage: Bad Trip
Garage: Bad Trip is every 1980s action horror flick power fantasy wrapped up in a bloody retroware wrapper. It tries to balance it's graphic gore with classic tropes and it's suspense with moments of the ridiculous, but leans heavily into its Splatterpunk influences. While its controls are tight for a twin stick shooter, Garage: Bad Trip has some mechanical bugs which diminish the overall experience.
feel like there's a lot of potential to be found in GARAGE: Bad Trip, but the poor controls and lacklustre sound design spoil an aesthetically interesting game.
Garage: Bad Trip is an unrelenting barrage of camp horror and ridiculous action sequences whose grungy VHS aesthetic will likely appeal to cult-movie enthusiasts, while also managing to be well-structured, accessible top down shooter with its very own grotesque thrills.
Come for the VHS horror, stay for the twitchy line of sight strafing shooting as you take on armed forces in an experiment gone horribly, horribly wrong. GARAGE: Bad Trip is a B-movie, right to the dialogue and tongue-in-cheek humour.
Not without its frustrations, GARAGE: Bad Trip offers players a sometimes fun and challenging twin stick adventure. It’s enveloped in an intriguing story line and boasts a memorable soundtrack. With a low cost of entry, the game offers value, some enjoyment and is worth a look, even if for just a bit.
