Another remaster that plays with our feelings and memories. A great option if we like the sharped sense of humor of the Asterx & Obelix universe and adds interesting references to videogames of the PS2 and Nintendo Gamecube years.

The mix of action, platforming and puzzles of Asterix & Obelix XXL2 was already great in the original release, and the improvements of this remaster are for the better, making this game one that fans of these two Gauls will love.

One of my favorite things about Asterix & Obelix XXL 2 is that it's not shy about its appropriation of other video game franchises. There are Romans disguised in costumes giving nods to franchises like Super Mario, Pac-Man, and Rayman. Take a few minutes to look around when you reach new areas and see what Easter eggs you can spot. The game has also made sure to match the humor of the comic series. The awful puns, roast boar for health, Obelix's complaints about being forbidden from drinking the magic potion. All of those nostalgic feelings came flooding back within minutes of starting the game. Like I'm ten again, sitting in my favorite chair with a stack of Asterix books from the library. It's most definitely a game built for the Asterix & Obelix fandom.
Asterix and Obelix XXL 2 was likely no one's first choice for a remaster, leaving only the original fans to return and enjoy it again.
Ultimately, Asterix & Obelix XXL2 is a PS2-era remaster that's not worth its near-AAA asking price. The brand new additions and lack of availability undoubtedly add some value, but this still feels like the decade-old game that it is. It may be worth the fairly hefty price tag for those with Asterix nostalgia or for an audience that wants to see what a late PS2 licensed platformer looks like, but it's hard to recommend otherwise. It's a game that deserves to be remembered and preserved, but the high cost will prevent many from experiencing this strong albeit unoriginal adventure.
Astérix & Obélix XXL 2 is back after thirteen years, in a conversion adapted to the current generation. Under the form of an action and adventure game, Astérix & Obélix XXL 2 includes a wide amount of content and features several fun and enjoyable moments, even though its conversion could have used more work when it comes to the sound effects. Not a groundbreaking title but still a fun game, which should be sold for a lower price tag.

Ast'rix & Ob'lix XXL 2 is still nice today despite its age, especially for the youngest, and if this remaster could have been more generous, it fuels the curiosity about the upcoming third episode more developed and meeting the current technical standards.

Overall, I found myself enjoying some parts of the combat and almost all the cut scene dialog but the majority of my experience was filled with repetitive gameplay and poorly integrated platforming.
