Critic Reviews for Quench

Puzzle and strategy game fans are guaranteed to enjoy their time with Quench. I can only, however, recommend the PC version of the game, as the Switch iteration, ultimately feels gimped in comparison.

Quench is at its best when you're working your way through the various puzzles and taking in the sweet, enjoyable scenery. The worst parts show themselves when you move through that scenery, though. The technical aspects sorely drag it down despite some ingenuity in the puzzles and a wealth of charm.

Quench is an okay puzzle game that has a few solid mechanics with a noteworthy art style, but its linearity and awkward controls don't help offset the somewhat steep asking price.

I found Quench to be a rather charming adventure that will let you appreciate the delicate balance of nature and the beauty of life in the wild.

Generally speaking, all of this works nicely…well sort of. While the puzzles are fine, and there’s a good variety of them, there are some technical troubles. I played the game on the Nintendo Switch, and it had a rough time running the game at certain points. I remember having horrible amounts of framerate drops, especially towards the end. It’s sad, but this is a really big problem with the game. I’ve heard that it’s better on PC, but as it sits right now I did have a good time with Quench. It’s currently $19.99 on the Switch store, and I had about 5 hours worth of gameplay on it. I recommend this game if you love puzzle games, but just be wary that it has some technical issues that hold it back, at least on this console.

This is a title I initially checked out at PAX East and it made enough of an impression I was excited to get a chance to play more of it...
