Critic Reviews for BDSM: Big Drunk Satanic Massacre
It’s worth a go if you’re in need of a decent run-and-gun title after the intensely disappointing Contra: Rogue Corps.
Despite it many flaws, I enjoyed BDSM and will be going back to get the Platinum trophy. Iit is mindless fun with occasional boobs, but really does need a good hard polish (honk honk) and a decent script editor.
BDSM is a rip-roaring good time, despite its short length and sacrifices to its visual presentation.
BDSM isn’t a bad twin-stick shooter at all it just doesn’t feel like it does anything original from a gameplay perspective.
BDSM: Big Drunk Satanic Massacre is a decent experience. The shooting is acceptable if you're fine with uninspired weaponry and a lack of combat strategy. The game length is good enough that the campaign doesn't become a chore, and the presence of multiple endings gives you a reason to replay the game. However, there are simply better, more engaging twin-stick shooters on the platform. This is a decent game to play for a day or two if you can get it on sale — and if you've already played through those other shooters.
Ultimately, BDSM isn’t very good when it comes to the actual gameplay to start with. It’d be a not tremendously good game even if it was exploring stuff like themes and meaning with some actual depth. But when you get into the “parody” aspect that’s really just a thin veneer to defend against people calling out the content, it slips hard into the territory of just not being worth your time.
Even if BDSM: Big Drunk Satanic Massacre wasn’t a horrible attempt at satire with no original ideas, it would not stand on its gameplay.
