Critic Reviews for Willy Jetman: Astromonkey's Revenge
It rises above its derivative title and offers an attractive, intricate, very much hand-crafted Metroidvania-lite experience.
Willy Jetman: Astromonkey's Revenge has given us some fun moments without spending much money. The first big surprise of the spanish indie development in this 2020.

An efective, joyful and funny proposal that updates the classic arcade gameplay from the 80s and 90s with adventure elements from the metroidvania genre, lots of humor and a polished pixel art, that moves like a fish in the water between a doable challenge and a fair difficulty game.

Willy Jetman: Astromonkey's Revenge is a charming indie shooter with plenty of adventures to be had, but its repetitive music, inconsistent controls and surprising difficulty curve hold it back slightly. Worth a look if you enjoy a challenge, and a quirky story.
As a retro-inspired game, Willy Jetman: Astromonkey's Revenge does a fantastic job of bringing gamers back to the past while offering fresh and exciting shooting and platforming gameplay. So, rock out with your Willy out and give it a try.
With so many retro indie titles that have replicated the feel and experience of such a wide variety of classic genres and styles it's always a bit surprising when you stumble onto one that still feels somewhat unique...
EXCELLENT - A nearly perfect mix of action adventure and Metroidvania styling makes this a must have title for those who enjoy the side-scrolling, platform jumping, leveling up games like Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Metroid. There is a lot of fun to be had even if you don’t like those types of games because the jetpack really does add a layer of fun that you don’t get from a triple jump.
Willy Jetman Astromonkey's Revenge is not going to mark an era in the genre but it is an excellent cover letter for Last Chicken Games' first professional project. Platform lovers have a fun game both in their control and in the script that has to bet on their own identity against the great references of the genre.
