Super Destronaut: Land Wars
Critic Reviews for Super Destronaut: Land Wars
A shallow, shallow experience overall that will only hold your attention for an hour or two at most.
Arcade games are known for being to-the-point and energetic. Finding one that's both of those things, and fast-paced, is a treasure. There's definitely replayability in a title like Super Destronaut: Land Wars. Short as it might be overall, the game modes never get boring.
Without a ton of viable budget first-person shooters out there on Switch, fans of the genre no doubt are curious about anything that shows up in the eShop fitting that bill...
With a retro look, voxels, pouches and an attention-grabbing approach, Super Destronaut - Land Wars is a limited FPS in terms of content and playable design. It may take a few curious moments before the repetitive and scarce of the set makes a dent in the player.

I play games for a lot of reasons. Sometimes it’s for an immersive story driven solo experience. Another is for frenetic multiplayer carnage and socially mutual destruction. Yet another, is to be challenged and tested by difficulty or intricate puzzles. At other times, like after a long day down the word mine, my reason is a need for fun but mindless arcade action to fill a little time in the cycle of work, sleep and repeat.
There’s a cool art style here, with a pumping soundtrack that’ll have you tapping your foot until you get bored of everything else this game lacks. It’s that lack of content that hampers Super Destronaut: Land Wars in the long run, with all manner of goals unconvincingly re-badged as more than just “shoot things” which just won’t keep you entertained for long.
Land Wars is a fun spinoff in the Super Destronaut series, offering some scorechasing entertainment and a perfect entry point for FPS newcomers! The easier difficulties can be a bit repetitive, and the challenges can sometimes feel as if they take way, way too long, but otherwise you have yet another solid, enjoyable scorechaser from the minds at Petite Games, and while I think DX gets the nudge over this one for better pick up and play purposes, this is still a solid choice for scorechaser fans. I just wish there were online leaderboards here, as that would have greatly increased this game’s worth.
Super Destronaut: Land Wars is a polygonal and colorful shooter with many game modes, and that emulates, but in first person, the classic Space invaders and it will be fine for a while.
