If the zany story started in Mortal Kombat 11 was the main course, then Aftermath is the dessert that makes the entire ordeal completely worthwhile. Not only do we get an epic conclusion, but also three new characters to play with and several amazing stages. Sure it may be a bit overpriced, but if there's one thing to be said here, it's that Netherrealm Studios really has mastered their craft, both with the storytelling and with crafting an enjoyable fighting title.

There's not enough meat on Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath's bones to feel like a full expansion, but two of its three new characters are excellent and the brief campaign is fun while it lasts.

If you like fighting games and did not have a great game like Mortal Kombat 11 in your possession, now is your chance to have it all with Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath Kollection, which also includes the Kombat pack with characters like the Joker. On the other hand, if you already had the game, you will have to weigh whether the new story expansion and the additions are attractive enough to pay € 39.99.

If nothing else, Aftermath is a must-play for both newer fans of the modern Mortal Kombat narrative and old-school fans who enjoyed the 1995 Mortal Kombat movie. While there have been offshoot projects like the Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge movie that released earlier this year, Aftermath's story shows once again that there are no better tellers of the Mortal Kombat lore than the NetherRealm team themselves.

Already the king of the story mode in the fighting game genre, Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath adds even more enjoyable content with a DLC character focused plot. Adding in three new DLC characters with Fujin, Sheeva, and RoboCop only sweetens the pot in this must own package that all Mortal Kombat fans should experience.

If you already have a disc or digital version of Mortal Kombat 11, update the game and enjoy its new and free content, but paying $40 for the Aftermath add-on is not recommended at all. The story section of Aftermath is short and poor quality, only two of the added characters are good enough, which unfortunately cannot be purchased separately.

Overall, though, MK11 is an outstanding game, and the free content update and the paid Aftermath expansion give this game another boost to carry it on through 2020.
