Bad News Collectors, Physical Games Usually Get More Expensive When They Come To Nintendo Switch Online

Nintendo just announced that Chibi-Robo is making its way to the Nintendo Switch 2 later this month via the console's Nintendo Classics service. The cult classic title, released in 2005, is one of the Nintendo GameCube's most expensive games, regularly selling for between $150 and $250 on eBay, so its inclusion in the service is a welcome addition.

For those who prefer to collect physical copies of older games, though, there's bad news (unless you already own a copy of Chibi Robo). More often than not, a game's inclusion in the NSO's Nintendo Classics library causes its physical edition's price to rise on the second-hand market, rather than fall, as you might expect.

Since the beginning of 2024, 23 games have been added to the Nintendo Classics library from across the Nintendo Game Boy Advance, Nintendo 64, and, more recently, the Nintendo GameCube. We analyzed the prices of each of these games on the secondary market and found that 14 of the 23 games have seen a price increase since they were released on the platform.
