Just over a year ago, Turkey banned Roblox. Following a round of negotiations over safety concerns, the overwhelmingly popular game returned to that country, things look better for Roblox's potential future, but in an abrupt twist, a different nation has taken the drastic step.
It's the latest in a years-long saga surrounding the platform's perceived security shortcomings, which have previously prompted YouTuber Schlep to commit to "vigilante justice" - until just a few days ago, that is, when Schlep suddenly found himself banned for his actions. Roblox Corporation CEO David Baszucki has been in the media hotseat for it, and, following an activist social media campaign, the country of Qatar has taken to banning Roblox entirely.
Per the Qatar Tribune, Roblox is no longer available to players throughout Qatar. The game can still be downloaded on iOS and Android, but anyone whose internet connection is deduced to be situated in Qatar cannot actually log in.
