One Year Ago Today, Concord Was Released And Promptly Shut Down

They say life comes at you fast, and if you need any proof, then just look at Concord, arguably the biggest failure in PlayStation's three-plus-decade history. As it turns out, one year ago today, the live-service multiplayer hero shooter was first released, only for it to be pulled from stores altogether and eventually shutdown, all within two weeks.

In honor of Concord's one-year anniversary, let's revisit just how quickly things unraveled for Sony. It's a doozy, so buckle up.

We begin our journey on August 23, 2024, the day Concord first launched, and the day that trouble first began brewing. On that day, the shooter failed to crack 1,000 players on Steam, topping out at around 600 players.

A few days later on Aug. 27, the numbers kept dropping, going from the 600s to the 300s, with players reporting difficulty finding matches. By the time Aug. 29 rolled around, the game was dipping into the double-digits, a sign of things to come.
