You're either clued in on Star Citizen's development cycle, or think that it's a tiered scam that almost raised a billion dollars without having a game to show for it. On paper, the game sounds like one of the most ambitious video game projects ever embarked upon, boasting the likes of Mark Hamill and Garty Oldman in its cast. However, it's been over a decade, and we're yet to see a proper launch.
In a recent interview with La Presse (via GamesRadar), Star Citizen director Chris Roberts was pretty vague about when we'd see a 1.0 launch of the game. While he said that the studio is aiming for a 2027 or 2028 launch, the single player version of the game, Squadron 42 will be launching in 2026, the same year as GTA 6. While most other studios want to avoid launching around that time, Robers said that he's not worried about Star Citizen getting eclipsed.
Talking about the Squadron 42's launch, Roberst said, "We're hoping it'll be almost as big an event [as Grand Theft Auto 6]," he said. "Other than GTA 6, it's probably the biggest-budget AAA game." A lot of money has been raised for the development...
