In July 2025, Sony filed a lawsuit against Tencent claiming that Tencent's upcoming game, Light of Motiram, was a little too similar to the Horizon series.
With Nintendo suing Pocketpair, the developer of Palworld, it feels like other companies are getting a little too aggressive with these lawsuits. Nintendo claims that Palworld is a blatant rip-off of the Pokémon franchise, even going so far as to put a patent on the gameplay mechanic of capturing monsters and battling with them.
With that being said, let's take a look at the official description of Light of Motiram, which was first revealed last year, directly from its Steam page:

Both of those, honestly, are super vague, and I feel like they could fit a wide variety of games. Sony claims that Light of Motiram borrows from Horizon's concept of battling big mech bosses in a post-apocalyptic landscape. Tencent has some thoughts on that, though.
