A little more than a year after the backlash surrounding The Crew's shutdown, rendering the game unplayable offline, led to Ubisoft revealing that it would make The Crew 2 and The Crew Motorfest playable offline to avoid a similar situation, The Crew 2 has received its long-awaited "Offline Mode."
Officially titled "Hybrid Mode," the feature makes The Crew 2 officially playable without an Internet connection beginning today, October 16. According to a blog post, players can switch between the online experience or offline mode as they see fit.
That said, because The Crew 2 was originally intended as an always-online title, features like multiplayer modes, global rankings, and livery sharing will not be available in "Hybrid Mode."
“This update represents a major milestone in our commitment to ensuring long-term access to The Crew 2 for all players,” a statement on the post read.
It's worth noting that this "Hybrid Mode" is only for The Crew 2, and it's unclear when exactly Motorfest, the most recent entry in the racing franchise, will receive its own version. Considering that it took a year and some change to see the mode added to The Crew 2, it'll probably be along...
