After mass layoffs at Turn 10 effectively cast doubt on the future of Forza Motorsport, the more simulation-based arm of the Forza franchise, Xbox head Phil Spencer has asserted that the racing series is not dead.
As first spotted by Windows Central, via an interview with Famitsu, Spencer said "No!" when asked if the series had been canceled. He then explained where exactly Forza Motorsport sits.
As for Forza Motorsport, we sometimes have to shift our focus to games that will be released earlier. And I also understand that many people reacted when the scale of Turn 10 Studios was reduced.
As far as we are concerned, there are many games that we would like to support carefully, and sometimes we give the development team a little more time so that they do not continue to be in a state of tension.
At least for now, it sounds like Forza Motorsport isn't outright canceled, but it certainly isn't a priority. That statement seems to echo what Turn 10 itself had hinted at — that it has shifted into a more support-based role for its most recent Forza Motorsport release and Forza Horizon 5.
