If you take your mind back to those exciting few weeks before Hollow Knight: Silksong launched early this year, you'll more than likely remember the absolute terror that took over every indie game studio on the planet, as they desperately scrambled to delay their games to avoid being buried by the Skong army.
Notable games that ended up delaying their releases were Baby Steps and Demonschool, the latter of which ended up delaying its launch by a couple of months. There were also some developers that stood their ground against the tsunami that was about to hit them, such as Hell Is Us and a Metroidvania called Adventure of Samsara, which was bought by just 12 people at the time. Hell Is Us director Jonathan Jacques-Belletête even went as far as calling Team Cherry "a little callous" for not warning devs in advance of their release date.
However, we don't quite know the full story behind the release of Hollow Knight: Silksong, and according to a recent interview with Team Cherry that Bloomberg held, it seems as though the studio itself didn't know its release date up until the last minute either.
