Dispatch Fans Call On Gacha Games To Be "Disqualified" From TGAs After Loss To Wuthering Waves

There weren't many major surprises at this year's The Game Awards. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 swept, becoming the most successful game in the ceremony's history (and ruining Baldur's Gate 3's fun), Grand Theft Auto 6 won Most Anticipated Game, and The Muppets made an appearance.

Dispatch's lack of nominations before the event could be seen as a surprise, given the outpouring of love the game has received since its episodic release, having picked up just two in the Best Debut Independent Game and Players' Voice categories. While it was probably expected to lose Best Debut Indie to Clair Obscur, a big fan campaign for the game to win the Players' Voice Award began in the lead-up to the show.

This campaign ensured the game reached the final five, beating off competition from the likes of Elden Ring: Nightreign, Mario Kart World, and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, but that's as far as things got. The title shockingly lost to gacha game Wuthering Waves, which also beat Clair Obscur, Silksong, and Genshin Impact to the crown, and fans aren't happy.
