Whenever anyone remembers that the first game to be named Game of the Year at The Game Awards was Dragon Age: Inquisition, they're usually shocked. I don't know why. It's a very good game, and it sold incredibly well.
In fact, voters loved Dragon Age: Inquisition so much that it won in all of the categories it was up for. Okay, admittedly, it helps that it was only nominated in two categories, but it is still interesting how in all the years since, no other GOTY winner has accomplished this - even if Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 came close.
In all honesty, I only know this fact because I was doing research before The Game Awards in preparation for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33's expected sweep, which, as we now know, absolutely came to pass. However, I was researching this because I figured it had a shot of winning everything it was up for, just as it did at the Golden Joystick Awards, and I wanted to see if this had been done by a GOTY winner before.
