Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic definitely isn't coming out in 2026, but the worst-case scenario for the release window has officially been eliminated. The Game Awards reveal of Fate of the Old Republic generated a lot of immediate hype, promising a return to the world of the iconic Knights of the Old Republic games. Concerns quickly tempered that hype, however, as fans realized that the game was only in early development.
Fate of the Old Republic director Casey Hudson took to X last night to assuage these concerns, telling fans not to worry about rumors that the game won't release until 2030. "Game will be out before then," Hudson promises, noting that he's "not getting any younger."
Hudson doesn't clarify any further details on when a release can be expected, but the update at least offers some confidence in the game's path forward.
It's not hard to understand why Star Wars fans were immediately apprehensive about Fate of the Old Republic's release window. Recent years haven't been kind to in-development Star Wars titles, with plenty of promising reveals leading to years of radio silence or cancellations.
