Clair Obscur: Expedition 33's rampant success has surprised pretty much everyone. You'd probably be able to find a few people that thought the game would be amazing, but you'd be hard-pressed to find someone that thought it would be a genre-defining RPG. It's an amazing game, having become the most-awarded game ever made, and sitting at a 92 on Metacritic.

Apparently, its success was even a surprise to pretty much everyone at developer Sandfall Interactive too, much to the dismay of many who made a series of ludicrous bets based on exactly where they thought that the game's Metacritic score would eventually land. Understandably, pretty much everyone who made a bet lost pretty spectacularly.

This is according to Expedition 33 writer Jennifer Svedberg-Yen, who listed all the weird and wacky stuff that Sandfall devs had to do after they were all blown away by the game's Metacritic score in a recent interview with IGN. One of the dares involved a chicken.
