Pokemon and Palworld ripoff Pickmon has changed its name to Pickmos, and the single-letter alteration is supposed to represent "a unique and profound ecological world", apparently.
In a statement on social media announcing the change a few days ago (thanks, Nintendo Everything), Pickmon developer Pocketgame (yes, really) says that the change in name has been put into effect in order to "better align with [the game's] brand identity and lore".
Remarkably, Pocketgame attempts to justify the change by suggesting that the "-mos" suffix denotes "a complete ecosystem" and "a grand cosmos", and that the new name, Pickmos, carries "a more powerful presence", helping it to act as "a better vessel for the fantasy adventure [Pocketgame is] building for you".
Although the name of the game has changed, the actual creatures themselves are still known as Pickmon, and the official X account for the game has both Pickmos and Pickmon listed, so the rebrand is slightly confusing, to say the least.
I'm sure that the change in name has absolutely nothing to do with how ferociously litigious Nintendo can be when it comes to perceived infringements of its IP, either.
Despite the fact that Nintendo and Palworld's Pocketpair are currently...
