Ahead of the launch of Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream on April 16, Nintendo released a detailed interview with several members of the development team, something that's becoming commonplace for the company ahead of major launches.

The interviewees: Ryutaro Takahashi (Game Director), Takaomi Ueno (Programming Director), Naonori Ohnishi (Programming Director), Daisuke Kageyama (Art Director) and Toru Minegishi (Sound Director) all gave their perspectives on the game they've poured years of their lives into creating.

The group addresses the twelve-year gap since the release of Tomodachi Life (Tomodachi Collection: New Life in Japan) and what they've been working on for the upcoming Living the Dream, especially regarding the upgraded power of the Nintendo Switch 2.

"When we decided to create a new Tomodachi Life game, we wanted to make Mii characters' visuals more appealing, in line with the current generation of consoles. But after adding all sorts of new elements to the Mii characters, something began to feel... off," Takahashi explained.

I don't think anyone wanted photorealistic Miis, especially since so much of the game's appeal is nostalgia for the 3DS release. The team made the right call in keeping the visuals of the Miis similar to past console generations....
