Directive 8020's Mixed Reviews Suggest Another Polarising Dark Pictures Experience

Reviews are live for The Dark Pictures Anthology: Directive 8020, and it's another mixed bag for a series known for polarising critics. At the time of publication, Directive 8020 has an average critic score of 71 on Metacritic and 76 on OpenCritic.

Our own Meg Pelliccio said, "Directive 8020 offers a few changes to the series template, and all for a very respectable reason of wanting to evolve and iterate the core gameplay fans know and love. Turning Points is a fantastic new addition, but the new stealth sections quickly become repetitive. Still, you can see the promising seed of what that idea could grow into in future games," in her 3.5/5 review.

This seems to be a common sentiment among reviewers: the ability to rewind decisions without replaying the entire game is welcome, but Supermassive's attempt to inject more gameplay with laborious stealth sections has proven unpopular among many critics.
