GamingBolt's Reviews

May 5, 2016

If you can only play one game this year, it should be Uncharted 4. The pinnacle of the series, it offers that magical sense of discovering and jaw-dropping awe like no other game so far this generation.

4 / 10.0 - Star Fox Zero
May 3, 2016

The only case Star Fox Zero convincingly makes is one for maybe permanently retiring the franchise.

5 / 10.0 - Alienation
May 3, 2016

Alienation isn't a terrible game by any stretch, but it's not great either. It's monotonous and lifeless, but can entertain in short bursts and with friends. Housemarque has done better in the past, and they should have done better here.

Hitman Episode 2: Sapienza builds upon what Paris' foundation laid out. A sprawling world crawling with tons to do and good replay value.

Battlefleet Gothic: Armada tries to combine the best of both worlds - tabletop strategy and RTS - and comes off a little ham-handed as a result. It can be fun but the punishing structure and difficult mission types may dissuade less hardcore strategy fans.

The Banner Saga 2 improves upon the original in almost every way possible and is, as a result, one hell of an experience that shouldn't be missed.

Bravely Second manages to retain much of what made the first game so good, but it stumbles too much to really leave a mark.

Ashes of the Singularity is truly a mixed bag of RTS goodies. Its strategy tactics and large scale battles draw you in but the lack of unit variety and drab campaign really keep from engaging you. Though a fun past-time for new players, strategy veterans may not find much lasting appeal.

9 / 10.0 - Ratchet & Clank
Apr 12, 2016

Insomniac Games have crafted a beautiful reimagining of the original game that must be experienced by every fan of the series. It may not impress old fans of the series due to it being largely similar to previous entries but it will certainly impress new comers.

A mysterious obtuse premise and frustrating-at-times combat both hinder and bolster the appeal of Hyper Light Drifter. It's not the successor of Zelda but it's still an incredibly well-designed, beautiful action adventure title.

8 / 10.0 - Dark Souls III
Apr 4, 2016

Do you want to die? Dark Souls 3 will help you and then some, until you can take no more. Faster and more unforgiving than ever before, this is the pinnacle of the Souls series...even if it doesn't top Bloodborne.

Pokken Tournament is the newest addition to the Wii U's excellent catalog of multiplayer games, and it is more than capable of holding its own against the other games in its company.

7 / 10.0 - Resident Evil 6

If you have yet to play Resident Evil 6, now is the time to do so. If you have already played it and didn't like it much, this version will not change your mind.

8 / 10.0 - Quantum Break
Apr 1, 2016

Quantum Break makes some amazing innovations in the gaming industry with the live-action TV show, unique and original powers and abilities, and beautifully designed set pieces and the levels built around them. However, the story leaves a lot to be desired, the abundance of video game tropes thrown in your face is way overboard, and the controls for telling Jack where to go really need some tweaking. However, it's still worth the ride.

7 / 10.0 - ADR1FT

Like riding a bike in zero gravity, Adr1ft takes some getting used to and offers an interesting, fresh and beautiful presentation. Sure, it has some rough corners but it has several more bright spots.

Fallout 4's Automatron DLC is a neat little diversion rather than the start of something epic. Its story missions are limited but its robot customization is strong, even with the usual bugs and hurdles.

7 / 10.0 - EA Sports UFC 2

EA Sports UFC 2 is a much better excuse to go looking for a fight than the previous game, even if it's missing the allure that made UFC Undisputed 3 so great.
