6 / 10.0 - WWE 2K17
Oct 19, 2016

The core gameplay loop is fine, and there's some enjoyment to be had with this game's more measured take on wrestling, but... even for what it is, WWE 2K17 is ultimately a disappointing game that falls short.

8 / 10.0 - Battlefield 1
Oct 18, 2016

Battlefield 1 manages to break up the monotony of current first person shooter trends by offering a fresh setting. Despite some issues, it offers one of the better Battlefield campaigns and a robust multiplayer component that will keep you hooked up for quite a while.

7 / 10.0 - Mafia 3
Oct 12, 2016

Mafia III is a case study in why open world does not always make things better. What begins as something really tight and interesting quickly spirals away from that strong core and ultimately ends up as little more than yet another sandbox game this generation.

7 / 10.0 - Gears of War 4
Oct 6, 2016

Gears of War 4 is more of the same but that's not a bad thing. The campaign is fun to get through with a decent story and characters while Horde 3.0 offers some excellent action with friends. However, it's all a bit too familiar at this point and we expect a bit more.

If Games Workshop is throwing Warhammer at every wall to see what sticks, Eternal Crusade is certainly one of the splatters that has the most promise. Games of this nature inevitably evolve over time, but at worst, we've got a really good shooter here. Just don't expect it to walk you into the world properly. It wants you to shoot stuff.

9 / 10.0 - FIFA 17

New game engine, improved mechanics and a story-based campaign prove that the beautiful game can get even better.

After significant in-roads over the past year, Destiny feels like its regressed with Rise of Iron. This would have been a great time for exceptional story missions and replayable content that wasn't completely frustrating. For its price, Rise of Iron should have offered a lot more and taken more risks.

Sonic Boom: Fire and Ice is not ever going to rank in the top echelon of Sonic games, and is definitely not good enough to make up for how bad the two previous Sonic Boom games were- but judged on its own merits, it's fun enough that series fans won't necessarily regret giving it a go.

Great zones and questing content, new additions like Demon Hunters, Artifacts, and Class Halls, solid group content, an engaging story, and the return of WarCraft’s best group of villains make Legion one of the best expansions WoW has had at launch. It’s hard to judge the final quality of an MMO on release, but right now, Legion is on the path to becoming one of WoW’s strongest expansions.

9 / 10.0 - NBA 2K17
Sep 22, 2016

Overall, NBA 2K17 follows the good old mantra…“if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” The game builds on an already existing and fantastic framework and if you are already a fan NBA 2K17 is game you need to play.

Dead Rising: Triple Pack is a decent packaging of the original three games but there is no reason to revisit this if you have already played the original ones.

With not a whole lot going on besides grinding for resources, trying to catch the bus, and ending up doing it all over again, this game will not hold your interest for more than a few days.

5 / 10.0 - Verdun
Sep 15, 2016

When Verdun works, the mixture of tension and uniqueness it provides is unlike anything else and utterly engaging. Too often, however, the game gets in its own way, either due to technical issues or poor design decisions. It’s an incredibly interesting and unique game, but its tedium and technical issues should be considered before you enter its trenches.

8 / 10.0 - ReCore
Sep 12, 2016

If it wasn't for the extreme bugs and flaws that shroud ReCore this would be one of the best games I've played so far this generation. The good outweighs the bad. I hope for its success because this new IP deserves to be an ongoing franchise for everything new it brought to the table.

Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 is everything you may want out of a puzzle game and more. It looks simple at first glance, but there’s a surprising amount of depth. It can be annoying have to jump through so many hoops to unlock that content, but the jumping is very entertaining. If you don’t come into this expecting to just beat levels, and instead want something you can spend days or weeks trying to master, you’re in for a great time.
