4.9 / 10.0 - WWE 2K15
Dec 12, 2014

WWE 2K15 is a slick product, but on closer examination it hides numerous problems and flaws. It's the game of tomorrow with the problems of yesteryear, a transitional game between platforms that feels like very little care has gone into crafting the ultimate simulation in sports entertainment. And that's the bottom line.

Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U is a no-brainer. If you own the console, there really is no reason for not owning the title already. There is enough content, fun, and joy to keep players busy for perpetuity.

6.5 / 10.0 - Tengami

My dissatisfaction and yearning for more is only testament to its potential for greatness. The visuals are stunning and the soundtrack and ambience is completely and utterly mesmerising. This game is really good and I just wanted more: more puzzles, more of the world and more of that amazing music. It's such a shame really, that this game's biggest drawback is that it's so good.

Far more than a simple remake, Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire returns players to the past, with all the new bells and whistles intact in this latest installment.

Lego Batman 3 is much of the same, but so much of it. A slow start quickly gives way to an entire universe worth of content that borders on the obscene. It's tried and trusted gameplay, but it certainly is time for the studio to get working on a new Lego experience.

While the game is fun and quirky, it's far better suited to its original home on handhelds. On the PS4, it simply doesn't hold up as a fully fledged game. However, for that price, it certainly is worthwhile if you're looking for something fun to play while waiting for all your other PS4 games' patches and updates.

8 / 10.0 - This War of Mine
Nov 25, 2014

The reality of war, hammered home through stark visuals and tight resource management, in a game where just surviving another day is winning.

In a few ways, Inquisition feels like a soft reboot of the Dragon Age series. Combat is different, Thedas has changed and the story has never been more about you as a character. It's still Dragon Age at heart, retaining some of the series' defining features, but it's hard to overlook some of the new, brilliant design choices that BioWare have made. Inquisition exudes ambition, and it's one of the very best RPGs you could ever hope to lose yourself to.

If all the bugs were removed, this game would probably score about an 8 - featuring excellent innovations and beautiful graphics. Unfortunately, the game is simply too broken in its current form.

A whimsical and charming adventure, LittleBigPlanet 3 makes a few welcome changes to the core game; namely new characters and new powerups four our old knitted chum, Sackboy. With an even more robust set of creation tools, it's a game of limitless possibilities.

Pinball FX2's take on the popular South Park brand is a smorgasbord of fan service. Neither table is an essential buy if you're a pinball wizard, but they're competent enough to at least give you a decent chuckle for your buck.

With clever puzzles and a dash of modern sensibilities inspired by the BBC show, Crimes and Punishments is an easy recommendation to armchair detectives - and the first to let players really experience being Sherlock Holmes.

6.8 / 10.0 - Lords of the Fallen
Nov 7, 2014

Lords of the Fallen provides players with a solid experience and fun combat system, but it never provides enough reason to care about anything else. It's a shame as the game does have a lot of potential. With a little more polish and tweaks done to the story and balance, Lords of the Fallen could be a great title. Right now though, it isn't.

7.5 / 10.0 - Shadow Warrior
Nov 4, 2014

Harkening back to a bygone era, Flying Wild Hog's nostalgic re-imagining of Shadow Warrior is filled to the brim with bad words, b-grade jokes, buckets of blood, bullets and blades. And sometimes, that's all a gamer needs.

Sledgehammer Games have taken a huge risk by sending the series so far into the future. Some fans may feel left behind, but the simple truth is should they choose to ignore the title, they will be missing out. This is one of the better Call of Duties in recent years. It's fresh enough to the point that it's alien, yet it's still Call of Duty underneath that futuristic surface.

7.2 / 10.0 - NBA 2K15
Nov 3, 2014

Online issues and forced connectivity for single player modes keep NBA2K15 from being the year's best sports game. Impressive visuals and rock-solid core mechanics however, make it a necessary addition to any NBA fan's library.

While Sleeping Dogs is still an excellent game, the Definitive Edition simply doesn't bring enough to the table to make it fit in with other games on the new consoles. Without adding more than some aesthetic polish, it simply doesn't feel worthwhile unless you missed out on the game in the last generation.

So what kind of a game is the Pre-Sequel then? If you said 'more Borderlands', you wouldn't be far off. But it is a Borderlands game that feels revitalised thanks to the new gameplay mechanics, enemies, humour and weapons. It plays out like a massive expansion pack, one filled to the brim with more secrets, ideas and a familiar gear-grind for better loot. And more Borderlands is actually a fun idea after all.

6.8 / 10.0 - The Evil Within
Oct 27, 2014

When the game works, it is fantastic. Unfortunately, the rest of it feels average and frustratingly built to make players fail. While obsessive collectors might see replay value in New Game+, the story and gameplay simply aren't compelling enough to warrant more than the original 20 hours for completion.
