Scoring around the 7.5/10 mark in 2005, this "Remake" doesn't really improve anything over the original. Yes, the graphics are updated, and yes the HUD and interfaces are decluttered, but the core lacklustre quality of the "exploration" shines through worse than before.
Paper Mario: The Origami King might seem like a mixed bag on the surface, but in my mind the good outweighs the bad. The music, while forgettable, is still functional. The combat, while annoying, is far from the worst thing I've played. And the just pure enjoyment I got from exploring and experiencing the world is enough for me to still give the game a hearty recommendation.
With its bugs, loading issues, extremely short playthroughs, limited cast and predictable outcomes, We Should Talk feels more like a demo than a complete, polished game.
SUPERHOT: MIND CONTROL DELETE truly does live up to its own promise of MORE. The additions to gameplay take the already winning formula and expand upon it, without taking away from what made the first two entries so memorable. It’s some of the most fun I’ve had playing a game, and it’s a game that will definitely have me coming back for MORE.
Overall, Hunting Simulator 2 is an ok hunting game. If you're looking for absolute realism, with fines and licenses and sitting in one place for 2 hours so you can hunt a thing, you'll love Hunting Simulator 2. But if you want something a little bit more arcade-y or something that doesn't involve hours of running around with nothing to show for it, you're best off finding another hunting game.
For better or worse, this is the Mineral Town we know and love. Complete with quirks both good and bad, it stands as a faithful retelling to this classic ranch story. If you're looking for a peaceful game to play a bit at a time, or just want to revisit a beloved town from your childhood, Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town might just be for you.
Evan's Remains is certainly an interesting combination of genres and while at times the puzzles feel like they are just there to break the story apart, it all comes together with excellent artwork and a memorable narrative.
A hidden indie gem that will surely entice RPG fans with its nostalgic look, excellent presentation and unique blend of puzzle and RPG mechanics.
Personally, I feel that this game is damned close to being a perfect masterpiece. From start to finish I was captivated and the gunplay and combat are satisfyingly stealthy with progressive brutality which some may feel slightly overblows the emotive struggle you endure. Barring a few minuscule glitches and a feeling of being drawn out in places, The Last of Us 2 swings for the big leagues and raises the bar on every level.
Despite being a game of ambitious proportions with the visual appeal and an intriguing plot, Beyond: Two Souls falls short of fully living up to the expectations with unintuitive gameplay segments, anti-climatic choices and some poorly developed characters that don't fully relate to players.
All told, Spacejacked is a really fun game that comes in a really neat package. The gameplay is fluid, quick, and engaging while the graphics and sound, while not perfect, are charming. This is a game that I can easily recommend to anyone who enjoys arcade-style games, tower defense, and action shooters.
Overall, Persona 4 Golden is the Persona title I would recommend the most. It has an engaging story, great character development, and an amazing soundtrack. Truth be told, I do like Persona 3 more, but Persona 4 Golden fixes every flaw Persona 3 had. If you play just one Persona game, make it P4G.
Offering a short but unique premise, Do Not Feed The Monkeys grabs the player's attention but botches it with conflicting mechanics that replicates too much with the mundane tasks it aims to satirise.
Blair Witch is a bit of a mixed bag. The graphics, sound design, and unique gameplay elements are all really cool, but the lack of a solid story and never truly taking advantage of being a horror property hold it back. Fans of the film franchise will no doubt find something to like here, but it’s not the interactive horror experience it could’ve been.
Battle for Bikini Bottom isn’t an exemplary 3D platformer in and of itself, but it’s above average for licensed games and its clear passion for the SpongeBob property sets it apart. The Rehydrated remaster is a wonderfully accurate port that makes it accessible for old and new fans alike.
With Disintegration, V1 Interactive’s inaugural title succeeds in bringing a game with fresh, hybridized mechanics that nevertheless don’t really condense into one that feels totally satisfying.
Nailing every key part of the Transport Tycoon formula, Railway Empire is a fantastically fun experience through and through. With a heap of content to explore and master, it's a game I'll be revisiting and enjoying regularly.
Warborn set out to bring a great tactics game inspired by mech anime and I would say it has. It misses the mark here and there but fans of tactics games should consider this a victory.
This is not a game that I would recommend to anyone other than really hardcore horror fans with a penchant for point-and-click style gameplay. While it has a nice little story going on throughout it just doesn't captivate or craft a memorable or original experience. I understand that it is inspired by classic supernatural films and TV series, but frankly, it just doesn't work to make Those who Remain an enjoyable game.
The Outer Worlds on the Nintendo Switch is still the game developed by Obsidian sans visual fidelity; if you can overlook the graphical aspect of this port, it will still deliver a memorable experience.
