7 / 10.0 - MindSeize
Oct 22, 2020

Thanks to a variety of weapons and upgrades this game had more legs than I had initially thought, and whilst it's fun to try to unlock everything and upgrade yourself to the nth degree, but with a formulaic approach to this genre it is just a little bit too forgettable as a game to really stand out in such a saturated market.

8 / 10.0 - Amnesia: Rebirth
Oct 21, 2020

Overall, I definitely recommend you pick up Amnesia: Rebirth if you're any kind of a fan of survival horror games. It's a worthy successor to Amnesia: The Dark Descent, and while the gameplay doesn't change much, the new story and monsters definitely make up for it.

Peril on Gorgon is, for the most part, a solid expansion to The Outer Worlds. While it doesn't do too much beyond adding a new story and locales, equipment and character options, it definitely makes the base game feel a bit more full. It still has some of the issues that the base game has but is an overall enjoyable experience and one I recommend if you want to get a bit more out of The Outer Worlds.

Mashing the FPS, rhythm and roguelike genres was a tough undertaking to create BPM: Bullets Per Minute, which also turned out to be tough with its steep learning curve and unforgiving nature.

6.8 / 10.0 - Party Hard 2
Sep 29, 2020

Party Hard 2 is a grower, not a shower. You have to ease into it and appreciate your surroundings to produce some truly inspired executions. If skulking and lurking is your jam, then Party Hard 2 is the game for any budding clandestine manslayer.

Avengers is definitely a mixed bag. The game looks great, and does what it can to immerse you in the story as you take on the role of Earth's Mightiest Heroes. But a repetitive combat system and borderline broken online multiplayer, the core of the postgame, keeps me from saying anything beyond "I liked it."

If I had to give this a score, this would be it. What I was able to play of Re:Turn - One Way Trip was enjoyable. While I never was really afraid or scared, there was a small uneasiness when I thought more on events. It shows a lot of potential and everything works well together to make a nice impression. Just in time for spook season.

Apart from chucking together some fierce combos and actually landing a superman-triple-backflip, I really couldn't find much enjoyment in staring at this overly drab flick book of a port. Sure the Switch is underpowered, but this is a real kick in the teeth for fans who would at least want a smooth albeit downgraded "off-road racing and lifestyle experience" on their hybrid console.

8 / 10.0 - Moero Crystal H
Sep 21, 2020

Moero Crystal H is ultimately a game you know you're going to love or hate after so much as watching a trailer. In many respects, it does little to break from my expectations, but its by the books dungeon crawling paired with the staple humour and open degeneracy of Compile Heart and Idea Factory is reason enough to pick it up if you've enjoyed their games before.

While Ary and the Secret of Seasons is an original, feel-good game with an interesting gameplay mechanic, it's still an unpolished game that deserved more fine-tuning to do justice to its scope.

This game truly is the Samurai Jack game that fans have been longing for for years. Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time is clearly inspired by the original God of War games and follows many of the same patterns. There's enough fan service in this game to keep fans happy, while simultaneously being enjoyable for a new audience. If you're a fan of this old-school style of action-adventure game play, I recommend this title.

7 / 10.0 - Hotshot Racing
Sep 12, 2020

Virtua Racing, Scud Racing, Daytona, Outrun: these games are synonymous with quality and class with that certain something only Sega could muster in the '90s, and yet here we stand in a COVID cloaked version of 2020 with a game as striking and endearing as you like, with visuals you can't help but gawp at and multiplayer playability that has through the roof levels of enjoyment. Hotshot racing does a solid job of replicating the arcade vibe, but fails to impart its own identity to really excel.

9 / 10.0 - Avicii Invector
Sep 8, 2020

A fun rhythm game both for fans of Avicii, and for fans of rhythm games. Easy enough to attract rhythm rookies that are fans of Avicii, and becomes challenging enough for rhythms fans to get their eyes and ears open to Avicii's music.

5.5 / 10.0 - Neversong
Sep 5, 2020

Neversong is a litany of missed opportunities, poor design choices and an underwhelming story. However, anyone looking for an inexpensive and time-respecting source of chills and nerve-tingling horrors will find something to enjoy in the journey--if not the destination--of Neversong.

8.5 / 10.0 - Paradise Killer
Sep 4, 2020

Paradise Killer may not be for everybody, but by focusing so singularly on one niche aspect of games, it makes detective work more engaging and memorable than any other game of its kind.

8.6 / 10.0 - Wasteland 3
Sep 2, 2020

Reviewing Wasteland 3 was tough. It's always hard to do justice to a product that you thoroughly enjoy, but one that simply doesn't work as it should. This game was destined for glory, but it trips at the final yard line, and I can't overlook that in good conscience - it would be unfair to you, the reader, and it wouldn't be right. If Wasteland 3 wasn't marred with technical issues, it would be flying in the high 9's territory, but as it is... well... it is what it is.

5.7 / 10.0 - Metamorphosis
Aug 31, 2020

When all is said and done, Metamorphosis is a relatively solid game. It's not without its faults but it does what it was trying to do; to tell a Kafkaesque story. It's an interesting game, certainly, but doesn't have much staying power.

5 / 10.0 - Windbound
Aug 28, 2020

Windbound should have been better. The potential and aesthetic are strong, but it is such an uninterestingly strict jaunt that I really couldn't find many redeeming features to make me want to play it any further than I have.

At the end of the day, Kill It with Fire knows exactly what it wants to be, and succeeds at it in the best way. It's an arachnophobic power fantasy that's just pure, unfiltered fun the whole way through, even if the ride isn't as long as I'd like it to be.

6 / 10.0 - Mortal Shell
Aug 23, 2020

If you're a fan of action RPGs that are Souls-like, I'd probably suggest giving Mortal Shell at least one playthrough, or at least maybe waiting for a comprehensive map to be created by the community. With fun boss fights and good combat, Mortal Shell is one of the better Souls-like games around that's simply plagued by a lot of bad design choices.
