3.9 / 5.0 - Mario Party 10
Mar 24, 2015

Mario Party 10 is a game that needs to be played with friends and family which is far superior than the AI. The gameplay is very reminiscent of previous Mario Party games but there are a few twists and turns from Nintendo such as the inclusion of the amiibo and full HD graphics that does give the franchise a fresh coat of paint.

Battlefield Hardline takes the franchise to a totally new level with the inclusion of "cops" and "robbers" that is pure fun!

If you missed out on the game the first time around then DmC: Devil May Cry Definitive Edition should definitely be given your consideration, especially considering the low price point. A fine example of a remaster done right (Although one must ask: "Where the hell are all the true current gen titles?"), DmC is a fast paced action game that offers a wealth of customisation option to appease even the most ardent critic of the game.

Ultimately Sid Meier's Starships feels like a game that might have been great in VGA back in the 90s.

Valley of the Yeti is certainly worth playing for its interesting new ideas and that classic Far Cry feel, but its overly cold approach to its story

Ori and the Blind Forest is a 2d platformer that sticks to its bread and butter. It's beautiful to watch and listen to and for the price you get a lot more than you pay for.

3 / 5.0 - White Night
Mar 10, 2015

White Night is a gorgeous and intriguing game that deserves to be played for its engrossing story and beautiful art style. Its impact is unfortunately diminished by frustrating design choices and an overall vague approach to its gameplay, which may leave some of you in the dark.

3.4 / 5.0 - Aaru's Awakening
Mar 8, 2015

Even though Aaru's Awakening does suffer from control issues, there is actually a good game to be found, especially with the beautiful stylised graphics. The controls do get better as you play but it definitely needs to be fine-tuned but once you bypass the inconsistencies, the level design, puzzles and story does create a relatively enjoyable arcade experience.

Being a fan of the series, I actually installed this latest instalment even though it does become repetitive but the mindless hacking and slashing on the battlefield is quite fun. The mechanics work well but the gameplay is definitely showing its age and once again, hopefully Koei can try something new in their next instalment besides making it a 1080p game.

Although not the most aesthetically appealing game, the strong writing and weird non sequiturs make Akiba's Trip: Undead & Undressed an engaging enough experience. The combat system could use some refining but you'll plow ahead just to reach the resolution of the story. The RPG elements aren't as deep as some may like but, for someone who comes from a Final Fantasy/ Legend of Zelda background there's enough here to keep gamers invested for the game's duration.

Oscura: Lost Light is an interesting game that has some great graphics and splashes of colours thrown into the darkness. Unfortunately the game is let down by its control system which does make playing this title quite a frustrating experience, especially for the puzzles. This is a shame as well because Oscura: Lost Light is a great looking game on the PC and as a result, it becomes an average platformer on the PC.

2.5 / 5.0 - The Order: 1886
Mar 7, 2015

Overall, I don't think you'll be missing out if you didn't experience The Order 1886. Weighing up the pros and cons results in a heavy tip towards the cons, and with that I would say save your money for something else. There was so much potential surrounding The Order, yet it hasn't lived up to the expectations. On a positive note, there is the scope for a sequel, or prequel that if it can utilize the good aspects of this effort, and incorporate some fun, then maybe we'll have reason to feel excited about visiting this world another time.

4.1 / 5.0 - ScreamRide
Mar 3, 2015

Screamride is a very entertaining game on the Xbox One that successfully creates that virtual roller-coaster experience from start to finish. There's some great replay value included in the game and some very good use of real-world physics with some over the top challenges for players to complete.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse is definitely a bit better than the previous game on the PS3 and XBox 360 and does offer the gamer some great replay value, especially when it comes to unlocking all the goodies such as costumes and items. With that said, the game still feels a little previous-gen in terms of its controls and I'm still waiting to see that true next-gen fighter on either the PS4 or the XBox One.

Even though feminist may cringe at the Dead or Alive franchise, the overtly sexualised content is also what made this franchise so popular and giving up on this would just turn the game into another bland fighter. Given that, most of the female characters are quite powerful characters, although some have one too many clichés.

I tried to play the original Majora's Mask a long time ago- but never made it through the swamp area at the beginning of the game due to a lack of inspiration and uncertainty with the time travel system. In reviewing this remake- I made it all the way to the end of the game and had a blast from start to finish. The point being- even though you may be uncertain about Majora's Mask 3D, if you keep pushing through you'll see what makes it such a highly-rated classic.

4.5 / 5.0 - Evolve
Feb 16, 2015

Evolve definitely had big expectations to live up for but thankfully developers Turtle Rock Studios have successfully delivered the next big multiplayer epic with flawless gameplay, great characters and a truly powerful monster that kicks severe butt! Sure it does have some parallels to Aliens or Predator but in my opinion, the gameplay is far superior and is easily one of the best multiplayer games that is more than just a first person shooter.

Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse is a fantastic game. It’s a celebration of platformer and role-playing games but it doesn’t particularly attempt to copy other games of either genre. I especially enjoyed how Sequin Land has a sense of connectedness, containing large environments brimming with secrets. It makes the world feel real. It’s certainly a unique experience in gameplay and it is packed with quality content. Once you make it through the first dungeon, you’ll be hooked until the end.
