9 / 10.0 - Teslagrad
Sep 13, 2014

Teslagrad from Rain Games has at long last arrived on the Wii U. But was it worth the wait? Fortunately, the answer to that is a resounding yes. The game is positively brilliant and nails everything it sets out to do, from the unique visuals to the ambient music to the elegant gameplay.

9 / 10.0 - Never Alone
Jun 27, 2015

So, should you buy Never Alone? It depends. I can't recommend it to everyone: the game is short, and it doesn't really include much challenge in either puzzles nor platforming. But if you can look past that, you'll find a stunning, unique game that uses the medium to deliver a beautiful story and an incredible world – and that's worth experiencing.

9 / 10.0 - Chariot
Jan 8, 2015

Overall, Chariot is another top-tier indie game on the Wii U. A lot of love and care went into this game, and it shows in both the excellent mechanics and audio/visual package.

There really isn't much of anything for me to complain about when it comes to Futuridium. It's a simple, but fun arcade style shooter that draws you in with its addictive gameplay and awesome presentation. With a price-tag of only $10, MixedBag Srl's colorful shooter is easily one of the most original and enjoyable games out on the Wii U eShop right now.

The last decade saw the rise of popular rhythm games such as Dance Dance Revolution and Guitar Hero. With that craze now long dead the rhythm game genre is attaching itself to other gaming genres. KickBeat – Special Edition is one of these games which strives to straddle the line between the beat\'em up and rhythm genre and strikes just the right chord in its execution. Zen Studios has put together a package that\'s both visually appealing and absolutely fun to play.

Overall, Yoshi's Woolly World is a "Nintendo" game at its finest. The game not only draws in gamers with a captivating art-style and excellent soundtrack, but it also keeps them engaged with spectacular and diverse gameplay elements. Fortunately, Yoshi's Woolly World packs in a wealth of options too, which accommodate new players as well as Nintendo veterans alike. While it may seem that Nintendo has a relatively sparse Wii U lineup for this fall, Yoshi's Woolly World is a pristine example that sometimes quality should be valued over quantity.

Affordable Space Adventures is an indie title with a $20 price tag, and that may make some would-be purchasers leery of the investment. I can say with full confidence that the price tag is not only justified, but might even be too low. Big studios never took the time to flesh out the GamePad and see what it was possible of doing, but Affordable Space Adventures shows why the Wii U GamePad exists: to provide an experience that can only be done on the console. Take the plunge, spend the $20, and get lost in the world of Spectaculon to play one of the finest Wii U titles to date.

Trine 2: The Director's Cut was the first time the series appeared on a Nintendo platform, way back at the Wii U\'s launch. Over two years later, we finally get to see the first adventure the three heroes shared – and now we get that tale with significant visual improvements. So how does the game fare? Well, it's not as good as the sequel. Of course it isn't – the sequel improved on practically everything about the original. Even so, that doesn't mean it doesn't share the same beautiful visuals, stunning music, fantastical world, and clever gameplay as its follow up – and that means that it is most certainly worth checking out all the same, and is a great place for newcomers to start.

It's got silky smooth gameplay, tons of single-player features, cool new custom moves and equipment, and is extremely well-polished all over.

I pull out my SNES every year to enjoy the good ol\' days of gaming and last summer, a series I decided to tackle was no other than Donkey Kong Country. While playing, I would keep muttering under my breath, "Why can't gaming be like this today?" Imagine my excitement when I found at E3 that Retro would be blessing us with another Donkey Kong platformer!

9 / 10.0 - Rocket League

The Nintendo Switch version of Rocket League is a worthy port. It is welcomed, fun, and brings Switch owner's into the light. Now excuse me while I recline and match wits in my Paladin.

9 / 10.0 - Mario Kart 8
May 25, 2014

To say that Mario Kart is popular is an understatement. Few series have ever matched its twenty-year legacy of sheer popularity and critical acclaim, so needless to say, Mario Kart 8 has a lot to live up to. Expectations have perhaps never been higher, as this is the first entry on a high-definition, online-competent console, but the game pretty much fulfills all of them. It is classic Mario Kart and that means it\'s great — the game even throws in several cool improvements and additions to the franchise. But it is not quite perfect, and by no means is it a revolution.

9 / 10.0 - Bayonetta 2
Feb 14, 2018

Overall, I cannot recommend Bayonetta 2 enough, this is a game that every Nintendo enthusiast and gamer should have in their collection. This game is a technical achievement in game design and has the pacing of classic video games that have defined a generation such as Ocarina of Time and Resident Evil 4. Bayonetta looks great, sounds great, and plays great. It's without a doubt, one of the greatest action games in the past decade.

9 / 10.0 - NES Remix
Dec 21, 2013

Minor quirks aside, NES Remix is a real treat that came out of nowhere. It always amazes me how Nintendo can keep things so secretive and, in this case, make no mention of it until the release day.

9 / 10.0 - SteamWorld Heist
Dec 9, 2015

Because it's so different from the past games, the fact that it comes under the Steamworld umbrella is a bit jarring, but the whole Western cowboy theme fits in nicely with the game. The already great storyline is complimented very well by the dark-and-gritty atmosphere, and the beautiful visuals. Just like Dig, Heist can prove to be very addicting, primarily because it's so frustrating. But that is the beauty of it all; it forces you to learn right from wrong on your own, and it makes you better for it. Image & Form has done a great job with their hybrid title. Nothing really seems out of place, and it's something that I would love to see them continue in the near future.

It's been 20 years since the Pokémon series was first introduced. For the past two decades, fans all over the world have spent hours upon hours battling and trading Pokémon of all sorts, getting lost in this fictional, yet amazing world. While features and mechanics gradually evolved as the series progressed, the core formula has remained intact throughout all of the main entries. As a result, veterans of the series have continued to enjoy each new entry just as much as the newcomers. With that said, get ready to experience a whole new world with a brand new attitude, because Pokkén Tournament is truly like no other Pokémon game.
