The Outerhaven Productions's Reviews

For what it's worth, UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH II does well by being a high-level technical play fighting game that requires patience to truly make the difference. There are several layers to "git gud", which is robust thanks to the GRD system's effect on the roster in different ways. Even though Arcade Mode holds plenty of dialogue, it still feels as if there is a novel packed into this game. It's just not the dominant thing to hold the genre. UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH II is still a worthy opponent in the anime fighter division for those seeking a serious contender.

Tekken 8 is a solid outing for the Unreal 5 engine, using it to improve the already impressive graphics we had with Tekken 7. The gameplay is solid with a lot of modes for you to play for hours on end. However, PC users should be warned that their version may have frame rate issues. If these issues are patched, then Tekken 8 will be the best fighting game on the market.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth shows Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and the entire Yakuza: Like a Dragon series at its finest. The best game in the series offers shocking and unbelievable content for players to experience across game modes like Dondoko Island, the brilliant and gut-wrenching story, and the intriguing new characters. Though it has some pacing issues here and there, and I still wish for slightly faster battles, this is the biggest, greatest, and most compelling adventure for Ichiban and Kiryu yet.

Neptunia Sisters vs Sisters on Nintendo Switch is a good port, and it runs the game well. I do think it warrants the same score as the base game for some of the new party members. I would still recommend it on PC or PS5 for less loading and pauses in gameplay.

With its impeccable style and fast action, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is a prime example of Metroidvanias at their best and worst. Setting a foundation for greatness, a follow-up that overcomes those weaknesses could truly take the throne.

Noctuary is a beautiful visual novel filled with fantastic art, amazing writing, great music and well done Chinese voice acting. The combat is not nearly as thoughtful.

Drawing from horror authors and their creations, World of Horror builds its own web of eldritch beings and cosmic occurrences. The roguelike nature of mysteries in the game ensures that no two runs remain the same. Though certain mechanics rise above others, World of Horror keeps things fresh with creepy visuals, multiple plot resolutions, and degrees of customization, even as its coastal town falls into decay.

Alan Wake 2 takes its action-horror predecessor and dregs it out of the water with a fresh survival horror overhaul. Though certain mechanics seem like they're still stuck in 2010, the vast majority of the sequel feels ahead of its time. The story is stylish, suspenseful, and scary, yet isn't afraid to get a little silly. Alan Wake 2 is one of Remedy's best games yet, and certainly its most artistic.

Xuan Yuan Sword: Mists Beyond The Mountains is a fun piece of history that helps us see how games were evolving in the eastern side of the world. It is a great time piece but can easily frustrate modern players.

Army of Ruin is a swarm survivor game where you become an unstoppable bullet hell machine. While only five stages are available, each stage has multiple difficulty levels and with over five hundred challenges and over 300 unlockable characters, weapons, trinkets, charms, and features, the game will keep you coming back for more!

Sword Art Online: Last Recollection is the culmination of all the Sword Art Online games and it feels a bit disappointing. The combat feels much smoother and the character models are of higher quality, but it doesn't feel like a full experience.

The Super Mario RPG Remake is a good example of upgrading things while not going overboard with said upgrades. To that end, if you loved the original, you'll love the remake. But if you've learned to want "more from your RPGs," you might feel this one is lacking in certain areas.

Jurassic Park Classic Games Collection is a bare-bones collection featuring the early days of Jurassic Park games. While there are some minimal quality-of-life enhancements added to the overall product, it's the same we expect from all retro collections these days and does nothing to stand out like other offerings have. Jurassic Park Classic Games Collection is good for people who don't have the time or money to track down the consoles and games themselves and just want to play the games on modern hardware.

Robocop: Rogue City brings the world of Old Detroit back to life with a slightly populated slum of a city while keeping the soul of the Robocop franchise intact. Placing Robocop: Rogue City between Robocop 2 and Robocop 3 was a risky move that paid off for Teyon. If nothing else, you deserve to give Robocop: Rogue City a try in a world where nothing else from the 1980s seems to be allowed to be revived and enjoyed.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 could have been up there with the best retro collections published in the last few years, however, Konami has shown that all they care about by releasing a quick cash grab with no decent extras or even the best versions of the games included in the collection. Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 is an example of how NOT to treat beloved franchises that could still draw money by the name value alone… I hope Silent Hill isn't next.

My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! -Pirates of the Disturbance- is a must-play title for fans of the series. If you aren't a fan of the series then you are fine passing on it. A sweet game that is very funny and has great humorous moments and impactful scenes.

Remnant 2’s first DLC, The Awakened King, is a change to how Gunfire Games tells its stories, and in that regard, it does a great job. However, adding a handful of new locations tossed into the pool of existing locations is frustrating as I encountered the older locations more than I did with the newer locations. This meant I constantly re-rolled my adventure until I encountered the new stuff. This needs to be addressed for this DLC to be worthwhile to new and existing Remnant 2 players. But outside of that, I enjoyed the DLC, and the closure to the storyline that started in the base game was refreshing.

Fashion Dreamer is a great entry into the dress-up game genre. It houses a plethora of outfits and clothing for you to sift through and find the perfect combination for your muse. The online features may be a bit barebones, but it is a great title for what it does, giving us the variety of mechanics that it has.
