Ravenlok is a Zelda-inspired take on Alice in Wonderland with colourful characters and places to explore, thanks to its great presentation and simple but fun gameplay. It's a perfect game for any young children looking for a fun afternoon.
The Last Case of Benedict Fox was clearly crafted with love as it nails what it is to be a fantastic Metroidvania, wrapping it up in a Lovecraftian murder mystery. Every part of this game feeds wonderfully into the others, creating a great experience that is only really let down by some mechanical inconsistencies.
For all its shortcomings, Redfall isn’t a bad game, a bit dated but not bad.
Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp is an incredibly faithful remake that blends the beloved gameplay of the original games with an upgraded visual style and fun new features. Whether you're a veteran or a green rookie, you'll have plenty to enjoy in the title.
Cassette Beasts is a fantastic monster collecting game, one that is clearly inspired by old-school Pokémon but betters it in every aspect. This is the game I wish Pokémon was; for me, it's the new master of the monster-collecting genre.
Mugen Souls is a fun game when you don't look too much into the intricacies of the gameplay and characters. It has value giving more Disgaea type ridiculousness but not with Disgaea.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor reflects the storytelling pedigree that Respawn Entertainment is known for. Despite it being a deviation in genre from the first entry, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor builds upon familiar gameplay while expanding exploration, combat, and more. Despite the visual performance issues experienced, these didn't detract from wanting more and finding out how Cal's story concludes. You might find the overall gameplay loop a bit overwhelming, but there is a meaty, emotional journey that lies ahead, Jedi.
DNF Duel on the Switch is a fairly decent port of the game that was released for the PlayStation and PC. The game remains intact and is an enjoyable fighter. The downside is that the visuals have suffered, and thanks to Nintendo, you have to pay to play online, which may hamper any chance of a healthy online community.
Minecraft Legends overall is a great game both in single-player and multiplayer, bringing a fun experience for all ages as you defend the new land you are exploring and build your way around objects laying in your way.
The Last Of Us Part 1 on PC is easily one of the best versions of the beloved title. While not everything hits as it should, so long as you have a good PC to play it on, you'll enjoy the experience.
EA Sports PGA Tour is somewhat, par for the course, in many ways what I expected, retaining much of the previous few entries while adding more gameplay options and better simulation than ever before.
Meet Your Maker antes up the adventure of pulling off a heist and the artistry of building an impenetrable base. Some players may get put off by the paltry upgrades, but those who crave other kinds of variety will marvel at the many heists to pull off and bases to design right at their fingertips.
Hunt The Night has combines Legend of Zelda in its puzzles and exploration with Bloodborne in its difficulty and ambiance in a way that will attract fans of either series. Though it might turn off players who are not interested in a lot of difficult boss encounters.
Wildfrost is an interesting roguelike deckbuilder game, that is a bit on the harder side that may put off people. Still, I'm looking for more people to dive into the game, find out strategies, and hopefully, the developer will tweak the game and release more content down the road.
Atelier Ryza 3: The Alchemist of the End & The Secret Key is the culmination of the entirety of Atelier Ryza. It is a fantastic conclusion and adds a lot of QoL mechanics that make it a great experience.
With an engaging story about urban legends bolstered by a branching storyline, Paranormasight hovers over other visual novels with its many interactive elements. It suffers from the curses of certain puzzles that prove arbitrary and a story that gets spread too thin. But the captivating characters and central mystery keep the tale of this mystery-adventure title as one legend worth spreading.
Mysteriousness proves tricky to sustain, but Dredge reels it in and mostly keeps it aboard through its run. Bolstered by beautiful music and visuals, the game features engaging episodic quests that promote exploration. With addicting fishing mechanics and the promise of something new on the horizon, the game sails full steam ahead with fish to catch and secrets to uncover. Dredge may have some dings in its hull, but this boat is more than seaworthy.
GrimGrimoire OnceMore is a display of passion from the art to the character designs. It has a fun loop and is a very unique experience. The only negative comes with the shortness of the main game and the maps mainly go up and down.
While it does have flaws, and totally looks/plays differently from the original trilogy, Bayonetta Origins shines as a worthy prequel to our favorite Umbra Witch. You'll root for Cereza throughout her journey, and be thrilled when you see her come into her own.
Resident Evil 4 improves on the original by changing the story just enough to keep players guessing, and adding new details that help with bringing the game more in line with the remakes of the previous two games, leading into the newer games in the series like Resident Evil VII and Resident Evil: Village. However, there are times when you can see the age of the original creep in, and some lazy asset use too, not to mention there are some bad graphical glitches in the review copies that I pray are fixed with the day one patch. Taking my personal bias out of this was hard, but I still couldn't see it as the masterpiece everyone else will be calling it.
