After finishing the game, I felt like a great journey had ended, even if it wasn't the most thought out story. I had gotten to know more cast of characters, their journey and what was at stake. There was a lot of side characters and other interesting choices when it came to those not in my group. Yet I sat there, at the end of my journey, thinking back on everything else that came before it.

SteamWorld Heist's excellence permeates through every aspect of the game, and the translation from 3DS to PC and PlayStation 4 is nothing short of exemplary. The aiming mechanic for ricochets or headshots is so satisfying. SteamWorld Heist is a masterclass in turn-based strategy with RPG stylings making it a standout on platforms to display this at higher resolutions. Whether you're looking for a casual introduction to the genre or a crushing challenge for veterans, SteamWorld Heist offers both in truly stellar ways.

Playground Games have set a standard that other racing games will have a hard time following. Forza Horizon 4 is all about the freedom of choice, and there’s absolutely something for everyone in this game. Forza Horizon 4 caters more to how you play than how the game wants you to play it. This is absolutely the most exciting entry of the series, a feeling I haven’t felt since the first game. It is a fluid game with a lot of moving parts that feels truly alive with the weather and seasons. Leave no cobblestone wall unturned, because Forza Horizon 4 is breathtaking at every turn, and rewarding at every stop. Ralph was right.

I have absolutely zero issues with Odin Sphere Leifthrasir other than knowing how to pronounce its subtitle. An old school, beautiful, classic RPG brawler reborn even better. It's doesn't get much better than this for the genre!

It’s such a rare thing for that perfect package of art, presentation, music and gameplay to come together and create something not just great, but truly special and imminently memorable. Cuphead is without a doubt a contemporary classic, sure to be heralded for decades to come, and it feels right at home on Switch. Make no mistake, this is the full-fat Cuphead experience, with no compromises or corners cut. It’s an incredibly impressive release of an already amazing game, and it’s a fantastic addition to your Switch library.

I can't begin to think of the monumental effort that went in to making this game over the past several years. Cuphead is a challenging gameplay experience that is at odds with its whimsical-looking animation. I never found the difficulty to be off-putting, but it rather forced me to be more mindful during each encounter, which then led to every victory being so sublime. Be forewarned at it being a hard game, but know that Cuphead is a masterpiece worth enduring such hardships.

Planet Coaster captures that real-life theme park feeling, bakes it into one hell of a delicious cake and offers you, and a growing community, a slice with a smile and a balloon.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided has some wonderfully slick gameplay that lets you be loud or stealthy, and lethal or non-lethal. This is where the action becomes the vehicle that carries you through this compelling story of "Naturals" vs "Augs".

This is not a game you can just pick up and play, it takes many hours to learn the systems, how they interact, and what works well. This is a game that still teaches as long as you’re still learning, and this is a finely tuned wargame that has captured my heart and mind.

Everything you can do in Forza Horizon 3 is vying for your attention: championships, showcase events, barn finds, and speed traps – you’ll be pulled in so many different directions that you won’t ever feel bored or left without a challenge. There’s hardly anything to actively dislike. Playground Games has made a powerfully social, comfortable, and exciting racer that never imposes anything but the freedom to do with what you want, at any speed you’re comfortable with.

The combat is intense and while hard, rewarding. Stealth style goes a long way to making key moments feel even more intense as attempting to ghost an area is extremely satisfying. Yet I can mix these gameplay styles up on the fly and cater my experience to how I want to play. Leading to a game that is both extremely fulfilling and highly repayable. Dishonored 2 is one of my best gaming experiencing this year.

It’s the best way to play Skyrim when not doing so on a PC. It’s dated, as anything from 5 years would be, but everything added up, this is an extremely solid package and for the amount of content, I see no reason not to jump back into the world, unless the price point is your biggest worry. That aside, hours of time will be lost to Skyrim once again and I’m looking forward to it.

While the game hasn’t aged very well in the years, and the ideas seen here are considered “old hat”, it remains a highly engaging experience that even if you’ve seen it all and know all its twists and turns. The updates to the game cannot be understated. However, it is packaged with Infinite Warfare through a premium purchase that having a simultaneous release of two Infinity Warfare games introduces a lot of choice that players will have to make. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare still remains best-in-show all these years later, and is a rebuilt masterpiece that’s worth experiencing again.

PREY is a game that didn’t seem to have a whole lot of hype or discussion about. I’ll admit, until the 1 hour demo that Bethesda recently put up, I wasn’t really tracking much excitement either. A few minutes into the demo though and I already knew I had to play this. I promptly stopped and waited for the release of the full game. Now after completing the game with 18 hours under my belt, not only did I walk away extremely happy but I believe PREY is an instant sci-fi classic people will be replaying countless times over the years.

Forza Horizon 3 Blizzard Mountain is not a required expansion, because there’s more than enough to the core game. But if you’re looking for more Forza Horizon 3, or to just do different things, Blizzard Mountain is an essential expansion to play. Blizzard Mountain also makes meaningful changes to the Forza Horizon 3 progression system. The way Blizzard Mountain looks, feels, and sounds is a treat to your senses, and a place you’ll want to spend a lot of time in this winter.

Thimbleweed Park isn’t going to bring any newcomers to the genre if it’s never been the type of game to draw player’s attention. Otherwise this is a wonderful love letter to the genre from one of the original creators. It’s funny, brain busting, and just a fun title that truly brings out the best aspects of the point and click genre.

Destiny 2 is definitely more Destiny, and it’s Destiny done well. The story is fun and more engaging, the worlds are gorgeous albeit tighter than I would like, and having the ability to hop to another world from anywhere is a huge improvement. There’s plenty of loot to find while playing any of the campaign missions, side-quests, and community events. If it weren’t for the shader system, Bungie would have hit a grand slam, but for right now, I can settle for a home run.
