Marooners' Rock's Reviews

May 31, 2017

This isn’t the worse licensed game I’ve ever played, but it was one that I feel a little disappointed in. I had fun and I had frustration. Only time will tell if I re-visit the game and have the time of my life.

With it’s innovative and clever controls, this simple and charming, yet complicated little gem is definitely worth the $15.

9.6 / 10.0 - Thumper
May 24, 2017

Not much has changed with Thumper in the jump from 2016 to 2017, but the little changes as well as accessibility options makes it so much more enjoyable. This is one of the must have titles if you care about music at all for the Switch.

9.2 / 10.0 - Mages of Mystralia
May 18, 2017

Fans of the classic dungeon crawler games or just fans of The Legend of Zelda, owe it to themselves to play Mages of Mystralia. It’s fun, short, and it’s made of the stuff that made us love fantasy adventure games to begin with.

4.2 / 10.0 - Akiba's Beat
May 16, 2017

Akiba’s Beat is definitely not for everyone and for most players it would be a boring affair. If anything, I recommend playing the Vita version instead; at the least it can be played in small bursts absentmindedly.

Overall, Guardians of The Galaxy: The Telltale Series Ep 1 “Tangled Up in Blue” is a decent first chapter for a Telltale game, but it feels lacking for a game centered around the Marvel universe.

7.4 / 10.0 - NBA Playgrounds
May 15, 2017

For $20, NBA Playgrounds has a lot to offer, especially if you have a few friends who remember the glory days of NBA Jam. While it doesn’t quite capture lighting in a bottle, it makes a valiant effort, and deserves a look.

It doesn’t really need to be said, but no Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition does not support mods, making it lesser to its PC Master Race brother. With that being said, however, this version may be the version of the title that everyone has to have.

6.4 / 10.0 - RWBY: Grimm Eclipse
May 12, 2017

There are issues, and there is a lot to forget, but at the end of the day it does what it does well, and that is being a mindless hack and slash title. If you go too far from that, it starts to crumble, much like Beacon Academy.

The game may seem cruel to some players, but it’s just showing tough love.

7.6 / 10.0 - Diluvion
Apr 26, 2017

Despite its flaws, Diluvion delivers a good story and a solid set of core mechanics. There aren’t a lot of submarine games that take an RPG approach to narrative and interaction.

Having the game on PS4 and including multiple ways to play with friends is a huge bonus that makes the game worth picking up for those who want some memorable nights at the couch.

Puyo Puyo Tetris is such a complete package and one where you can feel the love and passion crafted by the developers. It’s been a long time since a game has grabbed me so tightly and encouraged me to get better and keep coming back for more.

8.4 / 10.0 - Snipperclips
Apr 18, 2017

Snipperclips is a fantastic launch title that, more than anything, proves the portability concept of the Nintendo Switch. Having Snipperclips wherever I go led to some great times and memories I won’t soon forget.

If anything, World of Goo is a fun little distraction on a console that is still trying to find its feet. There are definitely worse ways to spend ten bucks. It will always feel better playing this game with a mouse though.

If you are a fan of dungeon crawlers, you will likely find yourself having a good time with Vikings – Wolves of Midgard. Despite its lack of satisfying loot, the game brings forth some really great visuals and some interesting ideas to the dungeon crawler formula.
