SA Gamer's Reviews
Codemasters have returned F1 video games back to the glory days. In years from now we’ll say, “Does this game play as well as F1 2017 did?”. It’s a benchmark that only they can set higher and if you’re an F1 fan you’d be a fool to ignore this game.
When you begin to parody, you run the risk of becoming the joke yourself. While Volition mastered this, they, unfortunately, missed the mark with Agents of Mayhem. There's a lot of fun to be had here but the game itself doesn't seem to want you to have it. If you can head into Agents of Mayhem only wanting solid gameplay with some interesting characters, you're good to go. Anything more will bring mayhem to the experience.
While based on the already brilliant Uncharted 4, The Lost Legacy does a fantastic job at creating its own unique identity. The adventure is dangerous, but it's also breathtakingly beautiful and the characters evolve with every step that you take. There isn't much to fault in this masterclass of an adventure game and Uncharted fans will undoubtedly love it even more.
Matterfall ticks most of the boxes when it comes to a side-scrolling sci-fi game. Great visuals, great sounds, robot enemies and lots of jumping and shooting. It's rather short and doesn't have much replay value, but it you enjoy a good sci-fi game, then you should give this a go.
If you’re a fan of rhythm games, you should definitely check it out just for its novelty. Even with the game’s flaws, there is still a classic rhythm experience with a bunch of eyeball creatures waiting to be experienced.
Aztez mixes two very different genres in a way that will make you pay attention. Part board game, part fluid beat 'em up, get ready for fluid combat and intense combos as you try to beat every stage as quickly as possible for maximum reward.
Whether you're looking for 5 minutes of brain bending challenges or just some academic fun, Dr Kawashima's Devilish Brain Training may be the game for you. It does take a long time to unlock all the content, but when you do, you're spoiled for choice.
Smaller levels that need to be played multiple times without the usual real-time strategy elements leaves this Pikmin game feeling out of place.
Splatoon 2 is the perfect shooter on the perfect console, and it’s an incredible amount of fun. If you’ve been looking for something competitive on the Switch then look no further. This is the splash of colour you need in your life.
A pure and exhilarating shooter with its own unique twists, SUPERHOT hits many right notes as you partake in its bullet ballet. However, the game struggles to have any lasting power and you will start to grow tired after you have finished the story and played some of the challenges. It's still fantastic to play when you have some time to kill and the level of satisfaction remains remarkably consistent. SUPER. HOT. SUPER. HOT
Final Fantasy XII deserves to be a part of your JRPG journey. With a deep, twisting plot and a focus on how politics and war muddies up things for so many other people. This game rewards exploration, tenacity and plumbing the depths of its systems.
A delightful little co-op puzzle game that will leave you and your friends square-eyed
That's You! requires you to leave the 'serious you' at the door, as things get a little crazy and silly. Just as it should. It's a real party starter!
Kirby's Blowout Blast is a quick and simple game for any gamer no matter what you platformer skills are like. While you can finish it in one sitting, there are worse things you can spend the same amount of money on, like movie tickets to see the latest Transformers.
World Series needs to fix its matchmaking, or give you singleplayer modes if it wants to be taken seriously.
If you want to relive the heyday of the Necromancer in Diablo 2 with an army of undead laying waste to the enemy, sign up here.
The content won't keep an adult interested for long, but add a child or two and watch them burn rubber.
A wonderful experience ruined by poor design and baffling gameplay decisions. Get Even is still worth a shot, even with all of these problems, just to experience the story, but I’d highly recommend you wait for a sale and pick it up for even cheaper than it already is.
Looking for a mixture of town management and hack and slash RPG? Better head on down to the Oasis for a while.
While Oceanhorn welcomes many a Zelda comparison, the game sticks to its guns to provide a somewhat enjoyable, if flawed, adventure that may not be necessary, but still manages to be fun along the way.
