I found the tone was dropped a touch due to the shooting sections, and some of the more frustrating dialogue and choices created a rather chaotic experience. It’s also a damn shame that the game holds back on the investigations, since they're the best thing about this series. Hopefully episode three will be a little less silly and start playing to its own strengths.
It may come as a surprise that Resident Evil 6 has had a visual upgrade in the new gen, with it being one of the weakest in the series. But that that said, it still looks great and is still a lot of fun, despite being more acti...
Sheltered is an interesting take on the life simulation game. Its main issue is the fact that since it was first shown off various games have appeared that do too much of what it does, thus the wind has been taken from its sails. It does enough different, but it never fully escapes the shadow of comparison.
If you’ve wanted to play, or replay, Day of the Tentacle for a while then the remaster is definitely the way to go. If you’ve never played a point and click game before then it’s also a fairly good starting point. It’s not a game for everyone, but it’s a genuinely funny experience. Considering genuinely funny games are few and far between, even today, it’s a welcome change of pace.
Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is a game that is definitely worth picking up if you're looking for a new co-operative experience. It's easy to play, but difficult to master, with lots of things to tinker as you to try and figure out the best way to set up your ship. Some understanding of videogames is definitely needed, but the difficulty settings mean that even if you're someone with just a basic grasp of gaming you'll have fun.
Dark Souls III, possess an immense sense of place comparable to the one of Bloodborne, however, at times, it fails to deliver the final punch and can leave players in a state of confusion.
Michonne is a fighter and a mother, but how can a mother fight for everyone she cares about, when everyone she truly loves have gone?
A phenomenal arcade racer, which unfortunately relies a little too much on player's competitive drive, from which comes majority of the title's life time.
A great time waster, enjoyable in short bursts. However for some, 15 minutes of gameplay on day-to-day basis, may simply not be enough, and unfortunately that's all that Catlateral Damage has to offer.
Lumo has bags of charm, and I’m actually quite impressed with the overall presentation and the variety of puzzles and platforming challenges, but it’s very hard to forgive for those clunky, inaccurate moments. The game became less enjoyable the more I played it, and the knowledge of that destroys any enthusiasm I might have had for playing it again
The game is rugged in some departments and a little less ambitious than I had previously thought it would be, but Soul Axiom is still a well put together and intriguing experience. It's a cool world filled with sparkly tech surroundings, a multitude of far ranging level environments and some really enjoyable puzzle solving.
I haven't had the chance to play it on the PC, so I am going into this with a fresh open mind.
Quantic Dreams cult classic's Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls are the latest games to receive a new-gen makeover, but how will both games fair in this day and age, especially the 6-year-old Heavy Rain? Oh yeah and remember to press X for Jason!
Alekhiene's Gun is riddled with bugs, glitches, and graphical imperfections. It's unpleasant to play, or even look at, and quite frankly it's not worth the disc it is being sold on.
If you're a fan of puzzle games, then Hitman GO: Definitive Edition is definitely something to consider if you haven't played the mobile version. If, however, you've had your fill of the mobile version it might be best to give it a miss. There's not really anything new to experience apart from some shinier graphics. The challenges on each board help add to the longevity of the game, but overall Hitman GO: Definitive Edition is a game best enjoyed in short bursts.
The positives almost make up for the negatives, but the game lets itself down in one crucial area. It's way too short. A shame because the puzzling and exploration is good enough to warrant more of it, and the title is mostly pretty enjoyable and engaging.
McDroid, is a game which has been clearly developed by a team with great ambitions, but ultimately failed to reach its desired heights. It’s like a creation of Dr Frankenstein, a product of a landslide of influences and ideas, which ultimately gave birth to a monster, which is repulsing in its appearance, difficult to control, and ultimately has no personality of its own.
Telltale Games take a different approach with their The Walking Dead series by placing us in the shoes of established character Michonne. But with an attachment already made with some fans, will this mini-series be able to capture the emotional drama that the talented development studio is known for?
Dreii, while not being exactly revolutionary or groundbreaking, is a resolute and competent title which unlike other games of the puzzle genre, allows you to challenge its levels with a friend. However, it's a game which has been clearly designed for touchscreen devices.
A horror title, with hardly any moments of dread, which has been seemingly written by a person who's behind WWE promos.
