Geeks Under Grace's Reviews

4 / 10.0 - Extinction
Apr 18, 2018

Extinction is a fun game premise plagued with camera problems, occasional bugs, and aimless mission design. Taking down a 40-foot tall Ravenii can be satisfying, but there isn't much to hang your hat on after that. This would've been much more palatable as a budget title.

8.5 / 10.0 - SYNTHETIK
Apr 17, 2018

Realistic shooting mechanics in a top-down area, enemies whose ferocity scales over time and the anticipation of opening weapon and item chests like a child on Christmas makes for a formula experience that is sure to have gamers return frequently.

7.5 / 10.0 - Crossing Souls
Apr 13, 2018

Crossing Souls is a solid retro inspired 80's love letter to all our favorite shows and movies from that era. The gameplay and some of the dialogue don't always work, but the nostalgia should be enough to make for an enjoyable experience.

Despite its unfavorable aspects, Azure Saga: Pathfinder is a giant step for MassHive in the right direction and is encouraging to see what else they can bring to the table.

6.5 / 10.0 - Alteric
Apr 11, 2018

Alteric feels like a billion other indie games out there, and wants to punish players more than challenge them. Luckily, the physics do make the platforming feel satisfying, and thee gam can be completed in a couple hours. Still, there are many other video games that deserve your time.

5 / 10.0 - ARK Park
Apr 10, 2018

ARK Park does what it sets out to do with a VR experience that complements ARK: Survival Evolved's world. It is just too bad that there is a lack things that you can do and interact with before getting bored. Hopefully, the updates Snail has planned will change that.

If you have played the first Ni No Kuni and like it a lot, and you will not regret buying it again for its sequel. It is a long journey that will take you a lot of time to explore.

Mario & Luigi Paper Jam Bros. is a fun and enjoyable romp through the Mushroom Kingdom with dialogue that will genuinely make you chuckle. It is not a must but for veterans of the Mario RPG games, but it is not one to avoid either. This is a good introductory title for anyone interested in either franchise.

Civilization VI is a worthwhile addition to the series. It takes the familiar Civilization formula and builds on it to give more power to its players. Despite some interface issues, its a great game that you will lose hours and hours in.

2.5 / 10.0 - Kite
Apr 4, 2018

Kite is an exciting game that offers much to both long time fans of the shoot em up genre as well as newcomers. It's surprising but not intimidating depth ensures that the game offers a level of complexity without sacrificing its fast paced nature. The game suffers from a bug preventing progress past a certain point, however. The experience is still fun, but until this is fixed, it is a frustrating end to what would otherwise be an excellent game.

8 / 10.0 - Octahedron
Apr 2, 2018

Octahedron is quite the spectacle to look at with its colorful visuals and unmatched style in the platforming genre. While the gameplay isn't exactly revolutionary, this is still an enjoyable indie title that you can keep coming back to if you need some something exciting in your life.

2 / 10.0 - Distortions
Mar 30, 2018

Distortions is a game reminiscent of an era when "indie" was a euphemism for "subpar." While I am pleased that that time is long past, this game did not get the memo.

8 / 10.0 - Q.U.B.E. 2
Mar 29, 2018

Q.U.B.E. 2 is an immensely satisfying first-person puzzle solving experience that is beautiful to behold and fun to play. The narrative holds it back from achieving greatness, but you can't go wrong spending an evening solving these mind-bending puzzles.

6.5 / 10.0 - Mulaka
Mar 27, 2018

A unique setting and art style ensure Mulaka stands out, but its fairly standard game design keeps it from being exceptional. It is still enjoyable though, and can be a worthwhile experience for someone who enjoys something different than the standard western fair.

Guns, Gore, and Cannoli 2 is a step backwards for an IP that premiered as an excellent tribute to games like Metal Slug. The modifications to its successful formula reduce what was once great to something that is merely above average.

The addition of Bowser's Minions does little to deter players from the fun, humerous and enjoyable experience that is Superstar Saga. The updated graphics bring the game into the modern age and the use of features from more modern titles helps to make an already enjoyable game easier to access. A must for fans of the franchise and a strong recommendation for anyone who wants to enter the world of JRPGs.

8.5 / 10.0 - Immortal Redneck

7 / 10.0 - WARTILE
Mar 21, 2018

Wartile is a unique concept that doesn't get tackled very often. The tabletop set pieces are a treat to look at while the character figures could use some extra polish. Variety also seems to be lacking, but gameplay is simple and engaging. Wartile is a concept that begs to be expanded into other genres beyond Norse Mythology.
