Bringing the two Evoland games to the Nintendo Switch is an opportunity for both experienced and newly-arrived players to enjoy this sum of RPG elements in an edition that might have some execution issues and a less motivating plot but which nevertheless provides an enjoyable time for all.

5 / 10 - FullBlast
Apr 9, 2019

FullBlast joins the growing wave of 2D shoot'em ups that's building up the Nintendo Switch catalogue but other than its fluid gameplay, it doesn't really provide for an intense, gratifying experience in any other way. Repetitive patterns, a dull audiovisual component and an overall feeling of doing the same thing over and over again put FullBlast in the passable efforts category.

Aragami - Shadow Edition is a third person stealth action game with a unique art style, simple gameplay mechanics and a compelling plot which is bound to captivate Nintendo Switch players. It takes a while for players to get used to its controls but any fan of stealth action games will feel more than rewarded when putting their hands on this piece of work.

Timber Tennis: Versus is not a serious, in-depth tennis game and by itself, that's not a sin. Unfortunately, its simple experience does not provide the player with any significant elements to spend time around it, with its shallow gameplay, lack of content and lack of online playing partners. Overall, Timber Tennis: Versus offers very little beyond its easy game mechanics and low price tag.

Trine 2: Complete Story may not bring anything new but that hardly matters in this marvelous work. A brilliant puzzler with fluid controls and gameplay, a gorgeous art style which still holds on to this day and with the added handheld value of the Nintendo Switch, everyone should give Trine 2: Complete Story a go, including those who already know it.

7 / 10 - Mana Spark
Apr 1, 2019

A game that can be as satisfying as it is difficult, Mana Spark will find a place immediately with enthusiasts of tough, demanding challenges, while finding itself a bit too much for less experienced players, but that should not be an obstacle as this is one fine specimen of an indie game that punches above its weight.

Darksiders Warmastered Edition lands on the Nintendo Switch after the release of several other versions and while this edition doesn't bring anything new compared to the original, its mix of fun gameplay, engaging boss battles and eye-filling art style make this a good option for those who are not familiar with the series. The game's occasional crashing needs fixing, though.

8 / 10 - Unravel Two
Mar 30, 2019

Unravel Two is a very welcome arrival on the Nintendo Switch catalogue and one which seems perfect to play on the go. This puzzler with stunning visuals and soundtrack is fun and involving and gains a whole new dimension with its local multiplayer mode, which contribute to make Unravel Two one of the bright gems available for the Switch.

Yoshi's Crafted World may be a new game but that doesn't mean it throws its legacy away. Quite the contrary, it's a new adventure with the distinct Yoshi series' feeling, this time based on objects that can be found in every household. Thanks to its beautiful visuals, interactivity of the settings and overall heartwarming, fun and enjoyable gameplay, Yoshi's Crafted World is a game for everyone.

The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame features some moments of fun and it's an accessible game for players of all backgrounds...but the game doesn't really fulfil its mission: due to rather empty, dull worlds, few common points with the movie and technical issues, The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame is nothing short of a big disappointment.

Swords & Soldiers is back to a Nintendo console with a fun and competent work that features a simple and entertaining gameplay, a sharp strategic component and a very alluring multiplayer mode. Where Swords and Soldiers falls short is on it lack of online capacities and when played with the Switch controller, it requires some time to get used to.

5 / 10 - Heroes Trial
Mar 23, 2019

Heroes Trials does not hide its references and inspirations, and there's nothing wrong with that. What Heroes Trials does wrong, though, is how to execute those influences and as such, what we end up getting is a rather lacklustre effort where its innovative plot and open world exploration end up being harmed by an overall lack of challenge, an art style which does not dazzle anyone and a level design that does not compare to adventure game classics.

Cursed Castilla has a simple purpose, which is to reproduce the experience of extremely demanding games of older generations, and it does a good job at that, as the game is very tough, simple to learn and competently draws inspiration from the most proinent classics. The game's ambition stops there and Cursed Castilla does not aim to go higher, as it doesn't do a lot to stand out from other similar games.

My Memory of Us brings the players into a different experience, with its sombre environments and unusual story-telling. Thanks to its accessible gameplay it never gets too difficult to advance, which might be disappointing for players looking for something more complex but the game's original premise and concept make this a title that stands out amidst other indie games in the Nintendo Switch catalogue.

Warplanes: WW2 Dogfight tries to fill in a gap in the Nintendo Switch catalogue when it comes to aerial combat games. While it provides a good amount of aircraft and missions to fulfill, the overall experience is very disappointing: its heavy and clunky gameplay feels very removed from what the game is supposed to deliver and its sub-par visual environment, not to mention almost absent audio component, make this an effort that is better left outside the radar of all but the most hardcore and needy aerial combat fans.

ROCKETSROCKETSROCKETS is exactly what its title says: a game about rockets, specifically about battles with rockets. This effort is fun to an extent when played on multiplayer but the solo experience does not have much to offer when it comes to memorable gameplay - its shallowness and repetitive nature quickly becomes too visible and the game ends up being a rather sub-par work.

3 / 10 - Avenger Bird
Mar 16, 2019

Avenger Bird follows the footsteps of 2D platforming revivalism of the 16-bit era but unfortunately, it's not nearly as memorable or as enjoyable as any of the names it tries to pay homage to. Its controls, a key aspect in any action game, are too loose and unreliable, the level design gives the player no motivation to explore and the overall gameplay is simply too frustrating to go on. Avenger Bird ends up being a completely missed shot in all the dimensions it's aiming for.

Torna starts from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and achieves the enviable feat of improving on the original game's experiences, namely on the level of the combat system, allowing for more alternatives, as well as on the game's plot and opening more elements that will grab the players' attention. A very recommended additional experience, especially for those who are already versed in the original game.

X-Morph: Defense is a treat for fans of action and tower defense games, as its simple but fun mechanics will keep players marveled for many hours. Its origins in the PC world mean that its controls don't feel entirely correct on a console but the game's wonderful visual displays, not to mention its absurd and hilarious humour will be more than enough to build up on its gameplay mechanics.

Atelier Totori follows up on its predecessor but rather than using alchemy as the basis of the game's mechanics, Totori puts more emphasis on combat and exploration, with mixed results. If the plot is interesting and captivating, the combat feels rather stale, which is a shame as combat is now a more necessary feature than before, given the game's reliance on exploration. While some aspects are to be praised, Atelier Totori missed a chance to rise above its predecessor.
