Through excellent dialogue choices, interesting item usage, and an immersive story, The Pillars of the Earth keeps the player interested from beginning to end. Becoming invested in the game's multiple protagonists is rewarded with a complex narrative that twists and turns to play with expectations.

7.5 / 10.0 - Agents of Mayhem
Aug 21, 2017

If you're looking for something to keep you busy and entertained, Agents of Mayhem brings it in spades. However, if you get bored of doing the same things over and over again, you might not get what you want from it.

7.5 / 10.0 - Castle of Shikigami
Aug 20, 2017

Castle of Shikigami is a decent port of a fun but difficult bullet hell SHMUP. With some nightmarish enemy designs and plenty of replay value it's a solid package let down by a dated appearance and its lack of extras.

Death Squared is an intelligent puzzler that challenges single and multiplayer gamers alike.

There's variety and a really good plot - this episode felt like a full story, but with an overarching subplot.

5 / 10.0 - Moribund

Despite having an interesting central mechanic, a lack of online and a dull art style prevent this from being worth picking up over other games in the genre.

Regalia: of Men and Monarchs will give the player the fantasy tactics and base-building experience that its backers demanded, paired with writing that but for a few typos is satisfactory at the very least.

A game with interesting ideas that is let down by frustrating, repetitive gameplay.

It's scary. Like, *really* scary. But what may be the scariest thing of all, is the fact that you've probably never heard of it. So I implore you to change that. Sharpish.

Everything in Touhou just feels pointless; the story is drab, the combat is flat and and the action elements are uninspired. I understand it's a fan made game but I really struggle to find anything to compliment here. I can even imagine fans of the series struggling to like it, which is pretty much the nail in the coffin. Honest opinion: Avoid this like the plague.

7 / 10.0 - Rezrog
Aug 14, 2017

Rezrog captures something special in it's gameplay and design. Though not flawless in it's execution there is plenty here to experience and love. If you are looking for a roguelike dungeon crawler you can pick up and play for a few hours or one to sink countless hours into, this is a title for you.

Not quite a must buy, this is an easy recommendation nonetheless. Especially for those in the mood of a 2D Anime fighting game that isn't Fighting Climax or other crossover fighting game. Obviously Arc System Works has their other iconic series, but this fighting game is up to snuff and definitely deserves a look. Even if the name reads like a weird out of the wood works isekai Light Novel.

5.5 / 10.0 - OVIVO
Aug 11, 2017

While some people may be looking for a similar experience to Super Meatboy, full of stressful levels that require some serious reflexes and problem solving, OVIVO offers the exact opposite. It's a relaxing experience that doesn't really challenge the mind or reflexes, instead it's more like weaving your way through a maze of fantastic artwork. Overall the game has nice simple mechanics and some lovely visuals and audio, however it falls short when it comes to difficulty, replayability, and price.

Yonder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles is a stunning and fantastic game. If you visit for the story or the wildlife, you will find yourself staying for all that this title has to offer. With a number of quests and different gameplay mechanics working together to build a world of mystery and wonder. This title is easily one of this years best surprises and I highly recommend it to anyone.

3.5 / 10.0 - Starfighter Origins
Aug 4, 2017

This could have been a solid title with a lot of replay value. Should it get some updates to address a number of the issues and frustrations then Starfighter Origins could be a good, if not great, title. For now though I'm sorry to say that its next flight is grounded.

5 / 10.0 - AereA
Aug 4, 2017

AereA's priority is to make the player feel totally engaged in a mystical world that has been fully committed to representing the power of music. I found myself astounded at how many mechanical holes this game contains when its visuals are so contrastingly stunning.

While Unbox has some fun moments, I mostly enjoyed it for its mechanics and not because I found myself having all the much fun. I'm sure there are plenty of players who would find more in this title, but I just saw missed potential.
