8 / 10.0 - Life Goes On
Apr 29, 2014

While this would be a strong game on mobile, the lack of storyline or replayability mar an otherwise great game about mass knight suicide.

6 / 10.0 - Cloudbuilt
Apr 28, 2014

It's very smooth and nice to look at, but loading times are quite long and made the wait for constant death quite boring. It seems unable to decide whether it is a parkour game or a third-person shooter, and that hampers what could be a much better game had it decided between the two.

The Wolf Among Us: Episode 3 - A Crooked Mile is a mixed bag. It's certainly the weakest episode of the series to date, but it is still an entertaining story that drives the investigation forwards, closing off some leads and opening up others. While it may not be the most thrilling ride so far it will hopefully serve as a launching point for a strong final two instalments.

8 / 10.0 - ETHER One
Apr 27, 2014

Ether One is a sobering and thoughtful journey filled with intrigue and contemplation, rounded out with well-crafted and optional puzzle sections. This isn't the kind of game which will appeal to everyone and if it's action you're after, I'd advise going elsewhere. However, if the prospect of experiencing a truly captivating story wrapped up in a exploration based puzzle game is an attractive one, then Ether One delivers and won't disappoint.

Warlock 2 is an interesting game. Fulfilling quests and establishing a foothold in new worlds is satisfying but the city-building side of the title is disappointingly limited and holds you back more often than it makes things interesting. However, if you want a strategy with a greater sense of progress and purpose, or just an interesting alternative to Sid Meier's output, it's well worth a look.

8 / 10.0 - Super Motherload
Apr 23, 2014

Super Motherload feels expertly hand-crafted and exudes more love and care than any AAA game could ever hope to. An inspiration to developers everywhere that balance and understanding of pace can carry even the most simple of games. Besides its small flaws Super Motherload is not only an example of a small game done right but, frankly, a joy to play.

5 / 10.0 - Windforge
Apr 22, 2014

Windforge is the shadow of the game that it should have been. There's plenty of systems here that should be great, but the package doesn't quite come together - primarily due to a lack of multiplayer, but also due to a number of design issues. Those who prefer their sandbox games as a solo experience will likely be thrilled with the RPG elements, while others should probably steer their airship clear of Windforge.

Sprinting out of the starting blocks like Usain Bolt, Kinect Sports Rivals quickly pulls over short of the finish line and soils itself like Paula Radcliffe. Two of the six sports on offer here pack a real punch, with the others lagging way behind. A valiant effort, if not a lot more else. A genuine attempt at highly competitive sports are hampered by a needlessly convoluted interface.

Devastation is another average map pack addition to Ghosts, helped to keep its head above water by an entertaining new Extinction map. Don't expect anything other than more of the same here.

Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae cheapness and poor presentation mask what is legitimately a great action game.

9 / 10.0 - Tower of Guns

Overall, Tower Of Guns is a stunning example of how old-school design is still relevant and fun in today's industry.

8 / 10.0 - Race The Sun
Apr 2, 2014

This quaint indie game goes a long way to proving that a game doesn't have to centre itself around stunning graphics, intricate storylines or likeable characters in order to establish itself amongst some of the truly great indie titles out there today.

7.5 / 10.0 - Luftrausers

Luftrausers is a good game with an excellent presentation, it's just too repetitive to recommend to all of the gamers out there.

10 / 10.0 - SMITE

Smite adds a welcome twist to the MOBA formula and, with constant updates and tweaks made with the help of the community, doesn't look like it will be fizzling out anytime soon! If you've ever wanted to know what it would be like to throw Thor's hammer into Poseidon's face, look no further than Smite: Battleground of the Gods.

9.5 / 10.0 - Dark Souls II
Mar 25, 2014

There are no doubts that critics and gamers alike are going to have preferences on which Souls title is the superior experience, and if an edge had to be given to one over the other, then Dark Souls would take this guy's vote. But calling Dark Souls II only marginally inferior to its predecessor is hardly an insult. This is still a true gem of entertainment in its own right.

In replicating everything enjoyable about the old-school, Limbic Entertainment have simultaneously duplicated the old flaws of those same games. With artificial difficulty spikes, lacklustre presentation, and the presence of complicated systems with no explanations offered, Might & Magic X frustrates as often as it entertains. It is the best, and worst, of an old generation.

6 / 10.0 - 1954: Alcatraz
Mar 21, 2014

Hardcore fans of the genre and Daedalic Entertainment will find enough to like here with the developer's trademark stunning art, believable voice acting and interesting setting, but an underwhelming story prevents 1954 Alcatraz from matching their stellar previous efforts.

Ground Zeroes is a short, but perfectly formed, experience. With outstanding graphics, a fully immersive playground and new features, Ground Zeroes still very much feels like classic Metal Gear Solid, but the new Fox Engine, particularly accompanied with next-gen technologies, brings it off the rails and gives the classic franchise the scope and settings for an even more incredible experience. Snake is back!

Overall Garden Warfare is a game that takes the core strengths of shooters and makes them accessible to all. Its presentation is fantastic and infects the game with charm at every turn. If you're looking for a fun time, PopCap gives it to you in spades. By ratcheting up the fun and lowering the seriousness, Garden Warfare gives its players what everyone wants from a video game: A good time.
