GameGrin's Reviews

Sep 29, 2021

A solid expansion that brings a lot of new toys to play with and mission variations to play in. The campaign is a fun exploration of a pivotal time in Mechwarrior lore. If you own Mechwarrior 5 you should own this.

6 / 10.0 - Curved Space
Sep 29, 2021

A fantastic looking game with a banging soundtrack, but not one that will keep you occupied for too long. Gameplay is far from bad, but it's not up to the same standard as the graphics and audio sadly. Curved Space is a slickly presented but sadly average title.

7.5 / 10.0 - Axiom Verge 2
Sep 28, 2021

Axiom Verge 2 is a 2D metroidvania game that focuses on exploration in its huge environment. If you played the first Axiom Verge game you may be disappointed in some of the changes like lack of weapons and less of a combat experience.

Amazing character relationships and a bombastic plot make this a must-play for fans of Robotics;Notes. However, it's just not for those left uncomfortable by excessive perversion. Add in how often the game crashes and its awkward pacing and DaSH becomes very hard to get through.

8 / 10.0 - Cruis'n Blast
Sep 25, 2021

Cruis'n Blast is an excellent return for the series and genre as a whole. The lack of online multiplayer hurts but there is a lot to enjoy for solo players and those who can play locally. Fantastic visuals and track set-pieces make this an engaging, fun time.

10 / 10.0 - Tales of Arise
Sep 16, 2021

Tales of Arise is so well done with the story, graphics, battle system, music, characters and voice cast that it is a must-play for anyone. Even if you aren't normally a big fan of role-playing games the story is so compelling there is a lot to love here.

8 / 10.0 - Mystic Pillars
Sep 15, 2021

A short but original puzzle game that comes as a low enough price that the lack of length is not an issue. A pleasant little experience that translates well from mobile to the Switch.

There are few games I've enjoyed quite as much in recent months as Aragami 2.

10 / 10.0 - Deathloop
Sep 14, 2021

Deathloop is a creative masterpiece. Refining everything that is excellent about Arkane Studios previous titles, it takes every single dial and cranks it up to 11.

4.5 / 10.0 - FORECLOSED

This game has some enjoyable parts, like the art, story potential, and cyberpunk aesthetics, but it is ultimately underwhelming.

7 / 10.0 - Garden Story
Sep 11, 2021

At times frustrating, Garden Story is a fantastic example of how charm can help push a game to the next level, despite some frustrating design choices.

6.5 / 10.0 - King's Bounty II
Sep 10, 2021

A flawed return for a classic series that doesn't quite nail the transition to an open-world third-person perspective. Interesting and fun combat balances out the bland exploration somewhat.

7 / 10.0 - UnearthU
Sep 9, 2021

This is a game for those with the patience to fully invest in this seven-day experience. Depending on how you approach UnearthU: As a mindfulness app, it's pretty useful although teetering on the edge of being problematic - as a unique ARG-like experience, it's extremely innovative.

What True Colors lacks in the emotional gut-wrench that the previous games have, it makes it for with a refined format that presents a story that fits right into the series and tells it in the best way seen so far. You're very unlikely to be disappointed here.

8 / 10.0 - Fallen Knight
Sep 7, 2021

A super fun 2D action-platformer with a unique twist on a classic story. Even for someone who plays a lot of games like this I was still challenged and really enjoyed the unique addition of being able to parry and disarm the enemies instead of just killing.

7.5 / 10.0 - Black Book
Sep 2, 2021

Morteshka's second outing was a home-run. Black Book is a superbly written title, lifting the lids of a host of Slavic myths that were likely unknown to many of us previously. Gameplay can be easy at times, but the rest will keep you locked in.

There are few seated VR games that I would recommend more than this, with great acting, a fun script and brain-teasing puzzles. Live the life of a super spy - who never moves from one spot - you'll either have a blast, or get blasted.

A great port of a great title that's well worth the investment on Switch, on PS4 however unless you are a Darius superfan you'd be better served with a copy of Chronicle Saviours.

5 / 10.0 - Just Die Already
Aug 30, 2021

While Just Die Already features a great concept, funny gameplay, and an excellent art style. Its lack of objectives and narrative really hold it back from being anything but a few minute novelty.

9.5 / 10.0 - Psychonauts 2
Aug 23, 2021

Psychonauts 2 is an absolutely fantastic game, and I can say that with certainty. Double Fine took an amazing concept that was ahead of its time and proved that they could do it again. The very few issues I had with the game were minor and had absolutely zero bearings on my overall enjoyment of the game
