9 / 10 - Hob
Dec 25, 2017

If you're a fan of the old-school The Legend of Zelda release, or the newer The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds on the Nintendo 3DS, then you're going to love Hob on PlayStation 4. It's charming art style, fun gameplay mechanics and clever puzzle dungeons will keep you entertained until the end. Other than some mild framerate dips here and there during areas with more flora and fauna, or during areas like the desert in which lightning bolts come crashing down onto the ground, but this never got in the way of the adventure.

8.5 / 10.0 - Ruiner
Dec 22, 2017

Ruiner is a fast-paced and hectic twin-stick game with an interesting cyberpunk setting and solid gameplay mechanics that come together to offer a fun experience.

I can see why this game could be a hit for some people, but for me, it wasn't what I was expecting. I liked the chiptune songs and the general premise, but in the end, the game didn't manage to grab my attention. Some of the puzzles felt a bit tedious and navigating in the castle was confusing at first. But if you like creepy games and the pixel art style and chiptune music, then you should definitely give this one a go. It features different endings based on your actions, so do keep that in mind!

Circuit Breakers is a fun arcade-style twin-stick shooter with a good variety of characters, each with his/her/it's distinct weapon, which makes each one feel different. The game offers some mindless fun right from the start, and more than enough content to make it a worthy contender for your time and money. The game also offers multiplayer for up to four players in case you have some friends who can join you, making this the perfect game for those of you with friends who don't game much – all they have to do is move with one stick and shoot with the other. How hard can that be?

Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls is an interesting spin-off from the main Danganronpa series. It gives us a new glimpse into the Dangaronpa universe from a different angle, remaining true to its visual novel roots with a ton of story to experience while also adding some light-hearted third-person shooting action on the side to tie it all together. If you're a fan of the Danganronpa series you should definitely give this one a go, with its intriguingly crazy and weird story, and the psychopath group of kids who don't mind killing every single adult in their way to get what they want, make this a great game on PlayStation 4.

If you liked playing Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, then you know what to expect in this experience, but I still recommend this game as the gameplay is fun enough to justify the purchase!

8 / 10 - A Hat in Time
Dec 18, 2017

A Hat in Time is a fun an colorful platformer with plenty of things to do. You're looking at around 7 to 9 hours to complete the game based on skill, and some extra hours on top of that for trophy hunters who want to add a new Platinum to their collection. The fun gameplay mechanics, charming voice acting, and solid music, come together to give us a solid platformer collect-a-ton on PlayStation 4 you should definitely check out.

8 / 10 - Still Time
Dec 15, 2017

Still Time is a fun puzzle/platformer release on PS4 with plenty to do and an interesting premise that will keep you coming back for more until the end. Being able to set several timeline versions of “you” into motion while having to worry about all of them surviving up to after you've exited a room will require some extra effort on your end during the final part of the game, but it's definitely worth it. Braid this isn't – as the game cheekily tells you at one point – and that change in focus gives us a different take on the whole rewind gameplay mechanic.

4 / 10 - Road Rage
Dec 14, 2017

I thought I was going to enjoy Road Rage, but, unfortunately, I quickly discovered the game wasn't great. It has a bland, uninspired open world with no incentive to explore it, repetitive gameplay, and bad acting. The only thing I thought was good was the bike customization, but that can only take you so far in this world. There are plenty of other ways you can spend your time on PlayStation 4, so be sure to stay far away from this one!

Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap is a great classic that has now gotten a new chance to shine. Even though this game is almost 30 years old, I was surprised by how well it holds up today.

8 / 10 - DeadCore
Dec 11, 2017

DeadCore is a fun and challenging first-person action platforming experience that speedrunners are going to love. The gun itself has a timer you can see at all times which marks the total time you've spent playing, as a reminder of how you always need to be on the move. The game requires a lot of trial and error as you learn a level's layout and hazards as you slowly improve your skills to take on the more demanding sections in later levels. If you give this one a chance, you'll notice that each mistake you make will allow you to learn from it and improve your skills, so that subsequent attempts will bring you closer and closer to your immediate goal.

If you're new to Telltale Games' take on The Walking Dead, or if you're ready to revisit previous seasons ahead of the release of the final season next year, then The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series Collection is a great option. The revamped graphics (models, textures, lighting, geometry, scenery), as well as the new lighting, bring everything to life, giving us the definitive version of the first three seasons, the 400 Days DLC content and the Michonne mini-series. The price is also great since its equal to the cost of buying two seasons, so this collection gives you more bang for your buck. Trophy hunters won't dig that the collection only has one trophy list with a single Platinum trophy, but at least it's a different list from the lists for each season.

Nine Parchments is a game I've been looking forward to playing since it was announced by Fronzebyte, and I have to say that the wait has been worth it. I've been a fan of the Trine series, and enjoy playing Has Been Heroes on Switch (even more so after the massive recent update to that game!), and I'm happy to say that Nine Parchments is a solid and fun single-player/co-op release

My conclusion on the game is that despite the bugs and issues mentioned above, when everything comes together, it plays fairly well and is enjoyable for the first few hours or so. The title gets dry real quick, however, unless you have other people to play with. Points for improvement would be the inclusion of a tutorial at the start and maybe adding a new game mode or two to keep things interesting. The team at MunkyFun has said it is looking into bringing online play into League of War: VR Arena, so you know they are indeed listening to their player base!

Serial Cleaner is a very fun and addictive game that will keep you hooked until the end. The gameplay mechanics are simple and to the point, and the premise is so crazy it just works. Cleaning up murder scenes for the mob, down to the last drop of blood? Weird! Serial Cleaner is a great option on PS4 and one you should definitely check out.

Spintires: MudRunners was an interesting surprise for me. At first, I thought I was getting a racing title, but I quickly saw that wasn't the case – it morphed into an experience I have never had before! It was difficult, but in a good way, and really challenged the way I play games with vehicles, as it's not just about going fast, but about getting things done right.
