The Town of Light is a harsh horror game where the horror is very real – it is something that could certainly happen to us or to a loved one. What Renée had to go through, and how it changed her and made her into the person she is in the present day is something that you certainly will not forget.

Overall, I had a blast with Mighty Gunvolt Burst. It's a very polished 2D action platformer with some fun level designs and mighty bosses to battle. I hope Inti Creates releases some extra stages and bosses by way of DLC because I can't wait to play more of Mighty Gunvolt Burst!

8 / 10 - Bulb Boy
Jul 12, 2017

Bulb Boy is a charming, dark and fun point and click adventure game on Nintendo Switch that is short and to the point without overstaying its welcome. If you're a fan of the genre and dig the game's cartoony graphics, which offer a nice contrast to what is actually going on, then I recommend you give this one a go. The one complain I might have is that everything is a hue of green with a ton of black (except for when you die, since everything will switch from green to red), but that's about it. Bulb Boy is a game that is a perfect fit for the Nintendo Switch, and I look forward to seeing what the team at Bulbware has to offer next.

I wasn't sure what to expect from Tour de France 2017 since I had never really played a bicycle racing simulator before. What I found was a very interesting title that piqued my interest for many hours. Biking through the beautiful vistas that the game has to offer is a great experience, and the biking had a really interesting gameplay mechanic.

I had a lot of fun with Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception. It features a very nice art style and striking cutscenes, which are always a big plus for visual novels, not to mention a solid story that will keep you engaged as you move forward. It's strategy, and tactics gameplay mechanics are a nice counterpart to the visual novel side of things, with a deep and rich battle system in which every choice you make can have a considerable impact on a battle's outcome if you play your cards right. I highly recommend this visual novel/tactical RPG on PS Vita and look forward to playing its sequel later in the year!

I'm not a fan of the teleporting mechanics but found that after a while I got used to it, but the lack of free roam and just specific points to teleport to kinda kills it for me. If you have run out of PS VR experiences and this one is on sale, then you'll probably be able to justify the purchase. But as is, you'd be better off spending your hard-earned money on something else.

9 / 10 - Spellspire
Jul 6, 2017

I highly recommend Spellspire. The hand-drawn graphics are charming, the music is quite enjoyable, and there is a good variety of enemies for you to face. It's a game that is easy to pick up and play, and, who knows, you might even learn a new word or two in each floor you complete!

Overall Daganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls is a lot of fun. It looks and plays so much better on the PS4 than it does on PS Vita, and it felt as if the shooting mechanics have been improved over the original Vita release. If you're a fan of the Danganronpa series, then I highly recommend you get this one right now. Sure, it's set in a different genre, but the many nods to the first two games in the series as well as the expansion on the Danganronpa universe's lore make this an entry worthy of the Danganronpa name.

7 / 10 - Deformers
Jul 3, 2017

Overall, Deformers is a fun and cute release that could use a considerable boost to its online community to get things going. It's a great online party game with a lot to offer, so hopefully Ready At Dawn keeps working on this one as they patch in additional content here and there. There's a solid foundation here that would greatly benefit from a larger pool of players.

9 / 10 - Root Letter
Jun 29, 2017

Root Letter is a very good visual novel on PlayStation 4 and PS Vita that will keep you engaged from start to finish. It's premise and story are great, while its gameplay mechanics (that will remind you of entries in the Ace Attorney series) will make for a fun experience. If you're a visual novel fan, I highly recommend that you buy Root Letter!

9 / 10 - Nex Machina
Jun 28, 2017

The latest release from Housemarque is a solid action-packed twin-stick bullet hell shooter you have to play on PS4. The simple to learn but hard to master gameplay mechanics, the fast-paced action, the hidden sections and the deadly bosses in the game will keep you busy for hours as you aim to improve your overall score for each run. Trophy hunters will be playing for a while before they make a dent on the trophy list, making it the perfect challenge for those who want to prove how good they really are.

10 / 10 - Chess Ultra
Jun 27, 2017

If you're looking for a solid chess game on PlayStation 4, then Chess Ultra is the way to go. It's a gorgeous release with chess pieces and environments that are hyper-realistic – especially when playing in 4k.

The Tenth Line is a good game that is fun from start to finish. If you like colorful RPG with a pixel art style and a nice Metroidvania/platforming vibe, then you should definitely check out The Tenth Line. It has plenty of content to offer, a fun battle system, and a solid card mini-game that will keep you busy for a while.

As was the case for the main release, the DLC has a lot of potential, but it is marred by bugs and glitches that force players to close the game and have to relaunch it to hope it fixes the issues. A patch or two might improve things, so let's see what the developer does.

Uncanny Valley is a short but fun PS4 release that is the perfect bitesized release to play between larger games. This being a cross-buy release means you can enjoy it at home or on the go, always making progress in the game's story in short or long bursts. You're looking at roughly 3-4 hours to complete a single run of the game, which is a good chunk of content for the asking price. I definitely think you should check this one out if you're a fan of horror games. You'll be pleasantly surprised!

Future Unfolding is a very relaxing release. The lush environments, slow but steady pace and the overall feel of this release make for an almost Zen experience on PlayStation 4. Granted, this game is not for everyone, but if the game's trailer, screens, and overall premise haven't made you completely dismiss the game you might be someone who could greatly enjoy it.

8 / 10 - Rise & Shine
Jun 20, 2017

Rise and Shine is a tough but fun action game in which everything and anything can kill you in a couple of seconds. You need to make the most of the available cover so that you can destroy all enemies before they overwhelm you, making sure that every shot counts. There are several areas in the game where you'll be attacked from all sides of the screen, with slow moving bullets, bullets that split into smaller ones, acid that covers the floor and does considerable damage, and even bombs and mines that can one-hit you. It sounds overwhelming, but if you stick with the game, you'll see this is a charming and fun PS4 release.

8 / 10 - RiME
Jun 15, 2017

I liked playing through RiMe, and highly recommend this game to players looking for a single player campaign full of puzzles and mysteries! The world is gorgeous, and the soundtrack is great at conveying that “on an island with no idea of what is going on” feeling. The art direction is stellar as you'll like discover while you travel in this world. I thought that the game was a little short for a $30 release, but your mileage might vary… but even so I still recommend it!

9 / 10 - DiRT 4
Jun 14, 2017

There are so many modes, races, and details hidden in this game that it will keep you busy for a long time. Once you start to master the modes, or if for some reason you find things are too easy, you can tune the difficulty and increase the challenge for the game. There is a lot to love in the game, and I couldn't put it down after playing for hours. It was always “just one more race”, until it was two in the morning. I'm forcing myself to put it down! If you like racing games, then you have to play DiRT 4!

All in all, I have had a blast playing Grim Legends: The Foresaken Bride. Once I completed the main game, I unlocked an extra story which was certainly a pleasant surprise! There's plenty to do in this game and lots of puzzles to solve, not to mention that being able to play the dominoes game instead of the hidden objects puzzles will make it so that anyone can enjoy the game's story and setting. I'm sure being able to skip puzzles is also a big plus for some of you, but you'll have to remember you'll lock yourself out of the Platinum trophy and will need to do a second run if you want it.
