9 / 10 - FOX n FORESTS
Jun 22, 2018

Bonus Level Entertainment have produced a very nice retro platformer with FOX n FORESTS that is a lot of fun to play. The only issue some of you might have is the pice of the game which is $20 for a 5-6 hours adventure, but while short it's definitely very fun.

Smoke and Sacrifice is a tough and challenging game with lots to do to be able to survive. The difficulty curve might get in your way here and there at some points, and the lack of tutorials is definitely not for everyone, but if you give this one a chance I'm sure you will not be disappointed.

Monster Slayers is a good and fun dungeon crawler with a card twist that makes this one feel interesting during the many runs you'll need to do – at least if you want to add a new Platinum trophy for your collection! There are many classes to play as, several cards to upgrade and many options of how to build up your characters in subsequent runs, so you'll definitely find something to like as you try and make it to the end to bring peace to the realm.

Riddled Corpses EX is a fun arcade-style twin-stick release that is a great pick-up-and-play release. I do feel it benefits from being on PlayStation Vita since it's perfect for playing short 10-15 minute sessions here and there, instead of having to sit down for longer gaming sessions. Cowcat did a lot of work to give us an enhanced version of Riddled Corpses on Sony's portable, hence the EX in the title, making this the definitive version and a game you should definitely try.

8 / 10 - Deiland
Jun 19, 2018

Deiland is a fun and colorful indie release that is very relaxing to play. Even with the enemies that attack you every now and then, the overall experience is very Zen-like, as you'll be spending time chopping some wood, breaking rocks to get stones and minerals, fishing at the pond, harvesting your crops, picking up wild berries, taking on quests. It's a great effort from Chibig, and I look forward to seeing what the team does next.

All in all Maria The Witch has some good points, like the art style and the colorful settings but, ultimately, it's pretty hard to recommend a game as frustrating as this one. At first glance, I thought it would be a good looking and relaxing platformer, but it is a shallow game that is challenging just for the sake of being challenging.

9 / 10 - Omega Strike
Jun 18, 2018

In the end, developer Woblyware has created a casual and enjoyable Metroidvania game in Omega Strike. My only complaint was that it was over a bit too soon for my taste, but I guess that's a good sign of a great game. Fans of the genre should definitely play this one, since Doctor Omega needs to be stopped and you have a right to have a lot of fun!

9 / 10 - Moonlighter
Jun 15, 2018

Digital Sun have combined two genres that are interesting on their own and made something even better out of them with Moonlighter. It's casual, fun, and challenging at times, not to mention highly addictive. It's the kind of recipe that makes the game one that should not pass under your radar!

Walden, a game is a very interesting PlayStation 4 release that adapts a literary classic into a unique take on an inspirational tale. If I had to describe it in one sentence, it could be distilled into a survival walking simulator of sorts, but by the end of the overall experience, this will end up feeling as something that transcends that. This is a game I highly recommend you get on PS4, and kudos to Tracy Fullerton and USC Games for taking on this project since all the effort and care they put into the game definitely shows.

Shantae: Half-Genie Hero Ultimate Edition is indeed the ultimate version of Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, giving us the main game and all of the additional content released thanks to the many stretch goals reached during the Kickstarter campaign and the subsequent extended funding period on the WayForward site. This is worth every penny, and is a must-have game you should definitely buy today on PlayStation 4, as you take on a new trophy list with a Platinum trophy to play the game with some new trophy objectives here and there.

If you're a fan of first-person adventures, also known as walking simulators, then you should definitely check out Asemblance: Oversight. If you tried the previous episode and liked what you experience, then this one is an easy sell since you'll be able to see where the team is taking things and what they might aim to do with a new episode to follow on what was presented in Asemblance: Oversight.

8 / 10 - ICEY
Jun 12, 2018

ICEY is a fun 2D action hack and slash that feels great, looks great and is fun yo play. The overall experience is even more entertaining with how you interact with the narrator who will get angry if you don't follow the arrows and end up reaching a spot where you shouldn't be. Be sure to check it out on Nintendo Switch!

West of Loathing is a charming and very fun turn-based RPG on Nintendo Switch that you should download today. The funny writing, simple but solid gameplay mechanics, and the long list of locations you can explore more than make this one worth your time and money. You'll spend 12+ hours playing this one to see everything the game has to offer, which is great for its $11 price point.

9 / 10 - Musynx
Jun 11, 2018

MUSYNX is a must buy game for all the music rhythm fans out there. The gameplay is fun and controls work perfectly, allowing you to get in the zone as you enjoy the dozens of available songs for the game. A little bit of practice goes a long way for this one, as you start to work your way up the difficulty list until you can master all songs in 6K Mode.

9 / 10 - Onrush
Jun 8, 2018

Obviously there I've made a ton of comparisons to Overwatch as this game obviously took inspiration from there. I wanted to talk about another game that I feel it has comparisons to and that's Rocket League. When I played Rocket League in Beta the first time I knew there was something special there, and I got similar feelings playing ONRUSH. It's new and different from your traditional car game in a really unique way. It has some growing to do in terms of what it's future looks like and how to keep a player base engaged, but it's following a good model for that. Hopefully we get a road map of what future updates look like going forward. Check this game out as I think we could be talking about it for a few years.

8 / 10 - Hammerwatch
Jun 7, 2018

Hammerwatch is a very addictive twin-stick dungeon crawler with a lot of content to enjoy and seven character classes to play as, making this a game that is very easy to recommend on Nintendo Switch. Crackshell and Blitworks have done a great job with the game, and there's more on the way thanks to the promised online multiplayer mode that will be added to Nintendo Switch later in the year.

PixelJunk Monsters 2 is a ton of fun, and a very addictive tower defense release. We liked the colorful and vibrant graphics which are very easy on the eye. We liked the difficulty settings since it allows players of all skill levels to enjoy the game, which is great since this is a game that definitively needs to be in your to-buy list if you're a fan of tower defense games. Happy trophy hunting!

8 / 10 - Milanoir
Jun 6, 2018

Milanoir is a fun game with a decent 1970s style story and a gritty pixel art style that fits the narrative. There's a lot of attention to detail in this one, and you'll feel as if each area you visit comes alive. The Mature nature of the game, with its violence, language and some scenes of a… different nature, means this one is not for everyone, but if you're over the age of 17, then you can take this one for a spin on PlayStation 4 to unwind after a long day.

8 / 10 - Subaeria
Jun 5, 2018

Overall, once you get into the groove, Subaeria is a fun puzzle game. If you're a fan of roguelikes and puzzle games, then you might be ready to give this one a shot. The graphics are very polished, and the gameplay mechanics are indeed different enough to make it stand from other puzzle games or roguelikes. The concept is clever, there's a good variety of puzzles to solve, but there is room for improving the game if the team adds more variety to the randomly generated rooms.
