The game ultimately is passable, but at the same time it is clear that a little more polish was needed before calling it a day on this one
The Adventure Pals is an addictively fun action platformer that you have to play on Nintendo Switch. There's a ton of content to enjoy, so you're looking at 8-10 hours with the game depending on how good you are at action platformers and if you find all stickers and cupcakes for each stage during your first run.
Death Road to Canada is very fun when played on your own or with a friend in local co-op, and I really liked the fact that each run was different from the previous one since it kept me coming back for more. Sure, the game is hard but if you're careful and plan your moves you'll eventually make it to your destination… right? Be sure to stock up on supplies, find the permanent upgrades, and kill as many zombies as you can!
City of Brass is a good looking and solid roguelite first-person adventure on PlayStation 4. While there isn't much story-telling or narrative in the game, other than the story setup you get during the tutorial from what is shared with you by the spirits of those who died exploring the cursed city, the game more than makes up for it with its gameplay mechanics in a very fun indie release from an experienced team.
Dragon's Crown Pro is just as fun on PlayStation 4 as it was on PS3 and Vita. The improved visuals and orchestral soundtrack make this one the definitive version, so if you're already a fan of it, or if you're up for playing a fantasy adventure beat ‘em up RPG, then this one is exactly what you needed.
I personally loved the game, and it does play much better on the Nintendo Switch than it did on the Vita. I also thought that the game played better in handheld mode rather than playing docked, as you can access the menu much faster with the touch screen mechanics.
I liked a lot of what I got from Phobos Vector Prime: The First Ring. I know it's a start to the franchise, with more modes and stories coming further down the line, which is why what is currently there might feel a bit light on content. But after playing the game, I do have to say that for the small asking price, this is definitely a good deal!
Sir Eatsalot is a fun, colorful and charming puzzle platfomer that will surely appeal to you on PlayStation Vita. There's plenty to do in this game, especially since the game uses every single element of Sony's portable console, including the touchpad on the back as well as the rear-facing camera! So if you're in the mood for some light platforming and puzzle solving, be sure to check out Sir Eatsalot!
Ninja Striker! is a fun 2D action platformer that those of you looking for an arcade style release on Nintendo Switch are going to dig. If you're into games that challenge you to beat your high score, that ask that you enter a Zen state of mind to find the best route to combo your way through its stages, then this is exactly what you need!
If you want a match-three puzzle game on PlayStation, then the gameplay of Metropolis: Lux Obscura might scratch that itch. Its noir theme is interesting, but the mature content for this one might not be for everyone. For the asking price, being able to add a new Platinum trophy in around four hours is definitely nice, right?
I can't recommend this one on Nintendo Switch since there are way better racing games available for the console.
It's definitely a game that you will enjoy playing with your kids as they get to learn the basics of how a point and click adventure game works.
If you're trying to learn some basic Japanese, then Hiragana Pixel Party is a great entry-level game on Nintendo Switch to get you on the right track. You won't end up learning complicated words or how to have a conversation, but it will definitely take you from not knowing anything to knowing some of it, right? And you'll get to do it in a fun way that actually works, either at home or on the go.
I really enjoyed my time with Super Daryl Deluxe, a really unique beat' em up/Metroidvania that was definitely worth my time – and will be worth yours. The game is the drug trip I never knew I needed – in a good way. Honestly, I've played a ton of great Metroidvania titles, but none of them have made me laugh this hard – and so much. This is a game that deserves to be played!
Timothy vs the Aliens from Wild Sphere is a fun action platformer on PlayStation 4. It is not without its flaws, such as when there is some slow down during crowded fights or when the prompt for the Circle button remains in the screen even after you activate, but is a good indie release you will enjoy. It will take you around 3-5 hours to complete the game and get your Platinum trophy, depending on how long you take to find all collectibles.
At first, I liked the unique style and setting of Deep Ones, but the more I played, the more I realized there were some issues with the game. The controls felt too stiff, the time it takes you to fire more than once is too long, and the exploration as a whole felt too long and uninspired for long segments of the game. This is an inexpensive game that might be fun for you, but be ready for an experience that could end up feeling boring and frustrating.
Alchemist's Castle is a fun action platformer that certainly pays homage to the Castlevania games of a Metroidvania nature, and you will notice this in some of the enemies in the game, the skills you'll gain access to, the areas you will visit, and more. It pays homage to the vampire slaying series while doing its own thing, feeling like a minimalist and stylized indie version made available at a very affordable budget price of only $2.99.
Strikers Edge is a fun arcade-style arena battle release on PlayStation 4 that is worth checking out. The gameplay mechanics are easy to understand but hard to master since this is basically a game in which you try to force your opponent into making a mistake so that you can corner him/her as you throw your weapon to slowly but surely chip at their health. Between the single-player campaigns and the local and online multiplayer side of things, you'll be spending dozens of hours playing this one on Sony's home console, and I'm sure you will have a blast doing so.
The Swords of Ditto is a great game with a beautiful art style and great music, fun and rewarding combat, and solid enemy design. The dungeons are fun to navigate and explore, paying homage to The Legend of Zelda series while also doing its own thing. I think the only thing that might rub some people the wrong way are the roguelite elements, but hopefully that is not a deal-breaker for you since you'd be missing out on a gem on PS4!
Rogue Aces is a very addictive arcade-style 2D release that is very easy to recommend on PlayStation 4, and which I hope you download today! There's a ton to do in the game, and with all the extra modes you can unlock, it's more than worthy of your time and money.
