Overall, Seasons After Fall is a gorgeous, quite relaxing combat-free puzzle/platformer on PlayStation 4. While its trophy list is easy, there is no Platinum trophy in sight. It makes sense since this is a beautiful and fun but short experience. After playing the game, I certainly hope the developer decides to revisit the concept either with some DLC content (as was the case for Never Alone, a PS4 indie gem from E-Line Media), or perhaps by giving us a sequel!
My one gripe with the game is that every now and then, the controls would feel off. I'd be playing and doing great, and then the opposing team would steal the ball and my player was way out there off screen and wouldn't run fast enough to defend. The blocking is also another issue since it didn't trigger properly even after I followed the instructions perfectly. Hopefully the game is patched soon to improve these two things.
I enjoyed my time with the game for my GNOG review. It's a colorful and charming release with some clever puzzle toy things you can interact with for a couple of hours or so as you try to find the solution to each micro puzzle that will, in turn, contribute to bringing you closer to the larger puzzle at hand. The game can be played either on PS4 as is or you can jump into its PS VR compatible mode to really get into the puzzles as you manipulate each toy, so that's a nice bonus for those of you who own Sony's latest hardware add-on.
Shadow Warrior 2 is fantastic. Flying Wild Hog have added a lot to this sequel on top of the thing that worked for the first game and made it all even better. There's a lot of content to enjoy, plenty of trophies to unlock, a hearty and challenging story mode and some great and smooth graphics to go along with it. If you're a fan of Shadow Warrior, then you've probably pre-ordered the sequel. But even those of you who might be new to the series will find something to like.
World to the West is a lot of fun with plenty to do and a good variety of environments and characters to keep the game feeling fresh. The game's music is nice with folk and orchestral scores, which greatly complement the experience. The nods from World to the West to old-school The Legend of Zelda entries is appreciated and it makes for a very entertaining release. Kudos to the team for giving us a great game to enjoy on PS4. I definitely look forward to seeing what their next project will be. Oh, and if you're a collecter you might want to grab one of the physical copies that are up for sale from SOEDESCO ahead of its June release!
Bob's adventure is an interesting one, full of genuinely clever moments, often funny and with some cool tracks interspersed into the otherwise silent world. But these can't save the game from some absolute, teeth gnashing difficult moments.
Period: Cube ~Shackles of Amadeus~ is a lovely Otome visual novel that fans of the genre will certainly enjoy on PS Vita. The MMO twist for the story is played out nicely in the story without it ever getting in the way of player's enjoyment of the overall story arc and the romance potential. There's a ton of things to do in the game and plenty of characters to interact with, especially if you aim at seeing all cutscenes so that you can get a new Platinum tropyhy for your collection!
Cosmic Star Heroine is definitely a game worth your time and money, and a JiRPG we highly recommend.
Full Throttle Remastered is a must-have on PlayStation 4. As a huge fan of point and click adventure games, and after enjoying Grim Fandango Remastered and Day of the Tentacle Remastered, I had been looking forward to playing this one on Sony's home console. The game still holds up nicely even after all these years, so kudos to Tim Schafer and the team for doing things right the first time. The audio has been reworked considerably and this, along with the revamped graphics and the 16:9 presentation gives us the best and definitive version of the game. If you're a fan of adventure games, you have to give this one a go. And if you're a fan of the original release, then you're definitely going to love this new take.
There is a DLC pack available for Zheros that includes additional content that feels like a short expansion pack, so be ready to check out our review for it soon!
Tethered is a fun release that is now available for all PlayStation 4 owners to enjoy. By removing the PS VR requirement, Secret Society has made it possible for millions of console owners to give this game a try. There's plenty of content to explore, and with a solid set of gameplay mechanic as its foundation, you'll be spending dozens of hours helping the Peeps succeed. Are you up for the challenge?
I loved playing the game for my Dreamfall Chapters review. It's an excellent adventure game and a very polished release. It features great writing and a solid story, really good graphics and a ton of content to enjoy. What's not to like? Other than not having a mini-map or map while exploring each location, this is a must-have on PS4
I do recommend giving Kero Blaster a go, especially if you're up for a challenge! If you want to 100% the game, you'll need to complete its regular mode along with its two bonus modes, one of which even remixes stages while adding new content to the experience! Sure, there is no Platinum trophy, but this is one of those games where if you can 100% its trophy list you'll proudly display it in your profile! Can you do a no death run? You better learn all of your enemies weaknesses and memorize the layout of every level!
Overall, Touhou Genso Wanderer is a fun roguelike dungeon crawler with plenty of content to enjoy and a considerable challenge. One false move could be the end of your journey, but you will always learn from the experience and get ready to try it all over again. You'll spend dozens of hours trying to see everything the game has to offer as you journey towards that shiny Platinum trophy at the end of the road.
All in all, Tumbleseed is a game that is a bit hard to describe, but it's certainly very fun! It's one of those “easy to learn but hard to master” type of releases that has a lot to offer. It, unfortunately, does not include a Platinum trophy, but the balance of trophies is good for hunters. It features colorful graphics with a great degree of polish, flawless gameplay and no bugs or glitches – at least not during my time with the game! It's quirky control scheme, story and character definitel caught my attention from the start and made me greatly enjoy this PlayStation 4 release. Kudos to the aeiowu team. After playing this gem, I look forward to seeing what they work on next!
You're either going to love or hate Everything. It's that type of game as it offers an experience that is pretty out there which is not going to be everyone's cup of tea. Do I recommend the game? Certainly! It is a voyage that has to be experienced. I'm sure that even if you don't end up liking the game, it will still leave its mark on you – you won't be forgetting about this game anytime soon!
There's a learning curve for this game due to how it handles its rhythm sections, but once you get the hang of things, you'll be in the zone and hitting 80%+ accuracy with no problem. So if you're looking for a fun rhythm game with solid gameplay mechanics, you should definitely add Aeero to your PS4 collection.
KAMIKO is a short but fun Nintendo Switch release. A single run can take as little as 30 minutes to complete, and once you're done you can do it all over again with a different character. Three complete runs will therefore take less than 2 hours, but it's a very entertaining ride while it lasts. The game is only $4.99 and its gameplay, music and graphics make it well worth the price of admission. There's also some extra secrets to find in this adventure, not to mention that the game will record your time for each character so that you can aim to speedrun the game. And perhaps something good will happen when you complete the game with all three characters…
MechRunner is a fun mech runner with polished graphics and a good attention to detail. If you're looking for an arcade-style release on PlayStation 4 in the runner genre with lots of action and mechs and explosions then you should definitely check this one out. There's a solid challenge in this one, even if it does get a bit grindy here and there.
Overall The Deer God is certainly an interesting game with some very good graphics. Due to the randomization and roguelike elements, this one has a lot of replay value. Other than the problem with some of the quests, which is not a deal-breaker, you should consider this one for your PS4 collection.
