LevelUp's Reviews
In the end, a ploy or not to patch a sparse line of software, The Last of Us: Remastered is a new version of one of the best titles of the previous generation and we must judge it by that and not by whether some players already finished it on another console. In this regard, I remember that as I walked through their desolation I saw here and there American flags flying in a carefree relent: there will be people, like me, who will buy this magnificent game a second time; after all, it's easier to imagine the end of the world than capitalism, I thought.

Shovel Knight is a work of true enthusiasm, dedication and love of detail that will satisfy not only those who have not tried a challenging and well-made old-school platformer for a while, but those who have been disappointed by the proliferation of soulless indies. late. Shovel Knight is an old warrior who keeps the ancient gaming traditions intact despite the times and changes, good or bad. It is true that it lacks a bit more to be truly extraordinary, perhaps it is too married to its archaic traditions and its armor is not as brilliant as it could be, but it is one of the best indie releases of this year, without a doubt. Recommended.

Mario Kart 8 is a return to the root of the franchise: short tracks full of curves that demand skill and a total memorization of each of its details and shortcuts. Over the years, the careers of this series were filled with small tasks to accomplish; they are stimuli with a more powerful brain massage effect than a sudoku.

The game, as an extension to the history of the Halo universe, contributes little and leaves some loose ends in its attempt to narrate the origins of the Spartan Ops that the colossal Infinity fleet conceived for the Spartan IV project in Halo 4. In the end, Halo : Spartan Assault has a lot to do as a member of the imposing franchise to which it belongs, and it definitely does not feel like a new generation. If you're a fan of the series, you don't want to miss it, but if the Master Chief saga doesn't fascinate you, skipping it won't affect your everyday life.

It is, after all, an amalgam of the franchise's nearly 3 decades of history. I long ago remember comparing Zelda to Mount Fuji, one of the favorite studio objects of the painter Hokusai, who drew hundreds of variations of the mountain without exhausting its complexity. At the end of A Link Between Worlds,I fondly imagined the Nintendo EAD Group No. 3 rehearsing different perspectives on that beloved object we call Zelda. The result is nostalgia and novelty, a charming contradiction, the rewriting of an unmissable myth.

Forza Motorsport 5 is an amazing simulator that will catch anyone who enjoys car games. The series has earned a place in the hearts of all of us who love racing simulators and this installment is a clear example of the level that can be reached in the new generation. Forza Motorsport comes to Xbox One to be crowned the best car simulator, at least, in the last 10 years.

To read Dickens is to get a mystical view." Playing Mario is one of the rituals that humanity needs: sometimes we need something to remind us that life is a fact and that everything is worth it. Mario 3D World is the joy of living.

Yes, Dead Rising 3 has occasional frame rate drop issues, especially when driving down a street packed with enemies or when the world is exploding around you; yet the action is so primitively fun and engaging that these details are relegated. Basically, if you are a fan of the series or are looking for a title full of black humor, funny situations and game mechanics that will make you the most prolific zombie destroyer in history, Dead Rising 3 cannot be missing from your launch library.

Rayman Legends is great because it explores pretty much every major variation on its main game system. Except for the Murfy and water scenes (we'll talk about that later), the control scheme is always the same, no matter which character you use. Hitting, jumping, gliding, and running are basic skills. In platforming cutscenes, Rayman won't get any new skills, so the development focus was mostly on level design (and it shows). What does this mean to us? That each of your worlds must be memorable and that we will perform a multitude of different tasks with the same control scheme.

Four years after its original release, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker to remind us why it is one of the best puzzle platformers on the market. The Super Mario Odyssey levels, the resolution bump on TV mode and the coop experience may not be enough to buy it again, but its clever level design and original concept make it a game that Nintendo fans can't afford to miss.

Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze remains an excellent platformer and one of Retro Studio's greatest works. While all its additions may not be enough to justify a second time purchase, Tropical Freeze is a must play for all Switch owners that never the chance to experience the Wii U version.

Bayonetta is one of the best series of the hack and slash genre and this port is true to the Wii U versions with some small improvements. It is a good version for new players or for fans who want to remember the action of these games anywhere.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is an unusual success story that leaves us with an important message: in this day and age, a large amount of players can —and will enjoy— a complex game that doesn't hold you back. We loved every second: getting lost in Bohemia sprawling forests, riding horseback on green prairies, bleedin in the thick of combat and getting stuck between some odd bushes. Kingdom Come: Deliverance it's a game we can recommend, with caution due its numerous rough edges.

A year after releasing on PlayStation 4, Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy is now on Nintendo Switch as a solid adaptation that compensates a slight graphic downgrade with portability.

Far Cry 5 has an interesting story and a theme that explores dark corners of the North American psyche. The Story has some pretty good moments that make you think about what a group of people is capable of when they follow an extreme ideology and they try to impose their vision of the world not caring about anything besides what one person or a book says. But the story just stablishes the setting of the game, on top of it there is a pretty fun game, full of action and adventure in witch you'll be running from religious fanatics and blowing everything that stands in your path to put an end to madness.

Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom is a beautiful game that takes the soul of PS1 era JRPG to create a must play experience for every fan of the genre. Despite a great presentation and atmosphere, the game can feel like a drag by it's fetch quest format.

Metal Gear Survive is a strange and unique mix. On one hand it's an interesting survival game, on the other it's a merge of Sci-Fi elements with a shoehorned political plot and dull characters. The game has some genuinely fun and intense moments, but it's mechanics and stiff controls sometimes make the experience unnecessarily difficult. Despite all of this the game can be quite rewarding and keeps you in a state of urgency that can be really fun.

A Way Out intended to renew the forgotten split screen cooperative experience, but fell short in its execution. The result is not as overwhelming as you think; A Way Out is fun and it's better to play with a partner on the couch. However, if you wanted to find the holy grail of the cooperative gaming, maybe you should look elsewhere.

Sea of Thieves most compelling activity happens when player ships clashes in PvP combat. However, PvE content is lackluster and easy forgettable, despite being set up in a beautiful world. This game has a potential unlike any other and might be the game we dreamed in 2 o 3 years.

God of War is all you can ask from a new game in a franchise; very high production values, charismatic characters and satisfying combat, visceral with no lack of action. However, this is accompanied by a very well-told story, excellent animations, a very interesting new universe, fun gameplay and a new partner that develops a very promising personality. You can feel the dedication and care that Santa Monica Studio put into every frame of this game. Despite going in a new direction, God of War somehow manages to feel familiar and it is the worthy beginning of a new saga that surely has a lot to give us in the future. This is a very carefully made game that will certainly help define this generation and that is nothing short of a masterpiece.
