Super Mario Odyssey is easily the most colorful game this year, and oozes with both fun and excellent game design. The collection of power moons has its dull moments, and after a while the game starts to feel a bit repetitive.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War is pretty much a Shadow of Mordor with more of everything. It's ambitious, good looking and the combat system is both fluid and entertaining. As a action game, Shadow of War is almost as good as this genre gets.

Metroid: Samus Returns is a must have for fans of the series. It has some really cleaver mechanics, together with a atmospheric world. It might not be best in the franchise, but close enought to make us forget both Other M and Federation Force.
